Product Description
Make perfect iced tea and chill instantly with this electric easy to use iced tea maker

Amazon.com Review
Coffee drinkers have their automatic brewers, why shouldn't tea drinkers? Ideal for family gatherings or summer picnics, this ingenious Hamilton Beach machine brews up a pitcher full of iced tea in less than ten minutes. After the pitcher is filled with ice cubes, tea (either loose or bags) is placed in the special paperless filter, and an adjustment for mild, medium, or strong brewing is selected. The lid snaps on. A receptacle slides out from underneath the heating unit which then holds the pitcher snugly in place. Water is added to the heating unit, the power button pushed, and the hot water drips through the tea filter into the pitcher of ice. When brewing is complete, the power automatically shuts off for safety. Complete directions for use are embossed on the slide-out receptacle, which eliminates worries about losing a user guide. Although the iced tea maker looks bulky when assembled, the pitcher inverts snugly over the heating unit for compact storage. Able to fit in most refrigerator doors, the 2-quart pitcher features a hollow, comfortable handle and a thumb release for the lid, but is not dishwasher-safe. Assembled, the machine measures 17-1/2 by 11-1/2 by 4-1/2 inches. --Ann Bieri

5 out of 5 stars Quick and slick tea maker   May 12, 2008
Love this new Hamilton Beach Tea Maker because it takes so little space in the refrigerator. Also, the design makes it attractive enough to leave it in plain view on the counter when not in use.

5 out of 5 stars We like it so far.   May 12, 2008
We have gone through several different styles of Mr.Coffee iced tea makers over the years and have had to retire them all because of cracked pitchers. Usually the spout starts to leak and leaves a mess on the counter, but sometimes it's the seam below that leaks. The repeated flow of hot tea on the plastic takes it's toll eventually. The cost of replacement pitchers was often as much as getting a new unit. Now that I see the Hamilton Beach design, I expect the pitcher is going to last much longer. The heated water flows through a hole in the top into the basket with the tea and filters into the center of the ice in the pitcher. It doesn't touch the spout until it's iced tea going into your glass. The tea tastes better and the cleanup is easier than the other brand. The design saves space on the counter. We like the HB Brewstation coffee maker so much that, when it came time for a new iced tea maker, I was inclined to give this one a try. We really like it so far.

5 out of 5 stars The iced tea machine that changed my life   May 2, 2008
Okay, it didn't change my life but I intend to buy a few more of these as holiday gifts if they are still affordable. I was thinking that I drink too much soda. Diet soda has those bad chemicals in it; and regular sodas are full of corn syrup. Even most bottled, canned and powdered ice teas have the same drawbacks.

With this machine, you can put tea bags or (even better) two heaping tablespoons of loose tea in the top. Just pour water into the tank, up to the marks. Plug the thing in; push the button. Come back a few minutes later, and the pitcher has about a quart of tea. It has shut itself off, and the tea is still quite warm so you can dissolve some real sugar in there, just as needed.

I fill a tall glass with ice and enjoy one right away. The rest of the tea goes into a glass bottle; enough for three more servings to be enjoyed over the next day or so.

It's so easy; snaps together just right, doesn't leak and you don't have to worry about anything boiling over or boiling dry. You don't even have to worry about things like "when to remove the tea bag".

Maybe I worry about too much stuff. But this appliance is worry free and makes great iced tea... even if you don't follow the directions and instead make the tea without ice. But do one thing, please... put the tea between the point where the water drips in, and where the tea drips out. In other words, put the tea where the water is going to pour over it. That will alleviate any possibility of your tea being too weak, as others have complained.

Great tea machine! Kick the soda habit.

5 out of 5 stars Makes terrific tea   April 28, 2008
I drink iced tea every day, usually green or white tea. Green tea only needs to steep for about 3 min. and not at a boiling temp., so I was nervous about trying this maker, but since it had 3 brewing strengths, I thought I would try it. Well let me say I love this thing, it makes great tea, green, white or whatever. It took me a couple of experimental batches to figure out what worked for me, but now I got it perfect. I have the whole family hooked.

5 out of 5 stars I love this little machine   April 24, 2008
I have become an iced tea fiend thanks to this machine. It really does make wonderful tea - I have tried all different brands and flavors and it is always tasty in only about 10 minutes. The instructions recommend that you fill up the pitcher with ice, but I don't have an electric ice maker so I just use water and it comes out just as good. I just have to let it cool off a bit before I chill it in the fridge. Also, you can adjust the brew from mild to strong depending on your preference (I like mine strong with 11 bags of pg tips tea). I recommend cleaning the machine frequently (at least once a month) if you use it several time a week like I do. I run it through with at least a cup of vinegar. I do have one warning: I am working on my second machine - the first one died in less than a year (the heating element take too long to get hot - so I have watered down tea) so save your receipt. But, even given that fact I still highly recommend the machine. I have given it several time over as a gift and it's always well loved.
