Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
One look at this rubbery bakeware and those uninformed about silicone will laugh at the possibility that it's actually safe to bake in it. But safe it is and KitchenAid is just one of many bakeware manufacturers that is producing pans in this revolutionary material. Made of FDA-approved food-grade silicone, this mini loaf pan bakes six 6-by-3-inch loaves of bread and is perfect for baking holiday gifts, such as pumpkin cranberry bread, in bulk. The pan bakes just as evenly as your metal pans and at temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition, this silicone pan has the benefit of being safe for the refrigerator, freezer, and microwave and can withstand sudden temperature changes from one extreme to another without buckling. The nonstick surface releases loaves easily and is safe for use with metal utensils aside from knives or serrated blades. Oversized rims make the pan easy to lift and transfer to and from from the oven. The only noticeable difference with silicone is that the pans feel a little wobbly as you carry them from tabletop to oven filled with batter and vice versa. Placing this loaf pan on a baking sheet will offer better stability for transferring baked goods and provide a level cooking surface in the oven. For easy cleanup, this pan is dishwasher-safe and will retain its nonstick cooking surface through hundreds of dishwasher cycles. KitchenAid provides a one-year hassle-free replacement warranty plus a lifetime limited warranty on this pan. --Cristina Vaamonde

2 out of 5 stars Be gone, sticky demon!   July 7, 2008
Be sure to keep a cookie sheet underneath the pan because it is extremely wobbly when full. Cooks fine and loaves pop out easily. But it is a horrible thing to clean. In fact, after the first use, it never was technically clean again. A sticky film has taken over the pan. I've soaked, scrubbed, boiled and cursed the thing to no avail. It will not come clean. I've tried to ignore the stickiness when using it. But no more! I'm going back to a good old fashioned metal pan.

So great for gluten free bread and cakes that normally stick to the pan so bad that you lose half the product trying to get it out. An essential for every kitchen.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent product for whole grain bread and muffins   May 15, 2006

If you like to bake this is a nice product to have in your arsenal of tools. I bake whole grain muffins and breads every week and find this pan to be extremely useful.

The breads that I have made released easily after they had cooled. I find it best to place this pan on a cooling rack for about an hour before removing the bread from the pans. If you do this it releases completely. If the bread is still warm when you try to remove it, it might not come out in one piece.

I have found that it is best to put this pan on a half sheet pan prior to filling it with dough or batter. If you try to carry it to the oven without a pan underneath it, it is not very steady.

If you don't have other silicone bakeware you are unfamiliar with the nicest feature of this product. You can squish it up in a ball to store it, and bounces back to its original shape when you need it.

My only complaint about this pan is that the bread does not brown as well on the bottom as sides as it does in a metal pan. But, being able to make 6 medium sized loaves at one time more than makes up for decrease in browning.

4 out of 5 stars Very good product   February 27, 2006

This product works very well. The bread cooked evenly and didn't dry out. The only drawback is that you have to use a baking sheet to support the silicone pan.

1 out of 5 stars Not what I expected   January 1, 2006

Unfortunately, this 6 loaf pan did not bake the way I thought it would. I expected it to release the bread from the pans easily as the directions state. I let the bread cool completely as it said in the directions. Then I flipped the whole silicone tray over and pushed on the individual compartments from the bottom, following directions specifically. The bread fell out in chunks, leaving globs of cooked bread in the compartments. I would not recommend this loaf pan, but instead I will buy a cast iron or metal 4 or 6 loaf pan. They are hard to find.
