Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Stainless steel filter / Brosilicate glass jug, glass handle and steel infuser & lid / Dishwasher safe / Microwave safe without rod and lid

Amazon.com Review
A smart and elegant design, the Assam tea press from Bodum prevents tea from becoming bitter while showcasing the beauty of brewing. Crafted with a borosilicate glass body and a stainless steel infuser, the press works with loose leaf or bagged teas and lets the user determined the brewing strength. Once plunged, the filter holds the tea below the infuser holes, so brewing is brought to a tidy halt. No removal of the infuser is necessary, and the tea's lovely color is visible all the while. Modeled on traditional teapot shaping, the pot holds 34 ounces, comes with a stay-cool knob, and cleans up in the dishwasher with the lid and rod removed. A 17-ounce version is also available. --Emily Bedard

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Product, but with some flaws   November 30, 2008
I have owned this teapot for 3 years and have used it at least once a week. The teapot is very convenient in terms of cleaning and brewing tea. Some people have had their break, and that's understandable. I could imagine it would break if I had dropped it. I try to be careful with it, as I do with wine glasses.

Pros:
-Easy brewing of teas
-Easy to clean
-Keeps tea hot for approximately 1 hour
-It looks cool and people comment on it

Cons:
-You have to hold the lid when pouring the last cup
-Plunger does not create a tight seal between the leaves and water
-The stainless steel infuser can get brown stains after awhile; I've learned to live with them
-The glass is fragile; so be careful
-Avoid squeezing the infuser or you can make dents in it

5 out of 5 stars Great Tea Press   July 23, 2008
My brother bought me one of these a couple years ago, and I have used it daily since then. It works great, and is easy to clean. The glass handle only gets warm, and not hot when you pour water in. So far I have managed not to break mine like a few people have. The glass is about the same thickness as a glass coffee pot so if you are careless you could break it, but I am careful when handling it. I am going to buy a second one to take to work as soon as I finish this review.

4 out of 5 stars I'm buying an other but...   July 21, 2008

I really wish Bodum sold replacement glass for this.

I had this teapot for over 18 months and I love it. It makes wonderful tea, cleanup is easy, and it's quite pretty. I like being able to see the colour of my tea brewing as well.

I broke it. I've been pretty careful with it, but I'd bumped it a few times over the past year and a half. Saturday, however, I hit it from the inside with the stainless filtre and blam! a hole appeared. Sigh...

That said, I'm buying an other pot as soon as I finish this review. I'll be more careful next time.

5 out of 5 stars Best Teapot   March 8, 2008

Some of the reviews mention the glass breaking... maybe not all of these teapots are equal. But I've had mine for over a year now, and I love it! I am a college student and this teapot has withstood life in a shared household (although some of my roommates did say it looked like a fishbowl). I use it to make tea in the microwave every few days (I heat up the water in the pot, then add the filter with tea when it when comes out of the microwave). The tea tends to slightly stain the filter and the glass, but every once in a while I put the whole thing in the dishwasher to get it sparkling clean. Probably the best purchase I made last year.

2 out of 5 stars Good design, poor execution   January 20, 2008
3 out of 4 found this review helpful

We purchased this because we loved the design of the infuser. In practice, the infuser is very effective and very convenient to use. The biggest problem is the the glass pot. The glass is extremely thin. We tried to be extra careful in cleaning the pot, but 2 months and the inevitable happened. When trying to pull the infuser out, it tilted too much and broke the glass.

Bodum has a great idea, but it would definitely be to their benefit to put the infuser in a ceramic pot that can handle a little more everyday use.
