Royal Doulton Tennyson 13-1/2-Inch Medium Platter

The Tennyson medium platter is a large oval, a good size for a roast chicken or small baked ham. A burgundy band decorates the white platter's rim; it features a taupe leaf-and-foliage design reminiscent of a William Morris fabric. The floral band is bordered on each side with metallic gold leaf, and the inner edge of the 1-1/2-inch rim is also detailed with a gold band. Other serving pieces in the Tennyson pattern include oval vegetable dishes, an elegant gravy or sauce boat, and a larger oval platter.

Because of the gold trim, Tennyson dishes should not be used in the microwave. Though not designed to handle extreme temperature changes, Royal Doulton china can be pre-warmed for serving in a 100-degree oven. Royal Doulton china is dishwasher safe; it can handle water temperatures of up to 150 degrees F. When hand washing, avoid abrasive cleansers and scourers.
