Product Description
Shark Steam Mop combines the power of hot steam with a triple action Micro-fiber pad to loosen, lift and lock dirt in place. Lightweight (3lbs), easy to operate steam mop spent on costly abrasives and is safe on vinyl, linoleum and hardwood floors. Oblterates tough grime, disinte scuff marks, melts away sticky messes, and absorbs muddy footprints. Eliminates mop wringing and carrying water bucket. Non-toxic: no chemicals left behind. 4 out of 5 stars The best one yet   October 3, 2008

I have been researching and trying out steam mops for a couple weeks. I tried a $160 one from a home show that had a short cord, small water tank and lost the temperature every 5 mins so it left much water in its path. Then I tried the H2O mop--HUGE disappoinment. It was like moppping with a wet rag. Waaay too much water, not steam. So sad, since I loved the cord length, tank size, agile manueverability and shape of the head (triangle). :( It was bad.

The Shark was the best yet, as far as actually steaming the floors. It steamed continuously and dried instantly. I like that--especially on hardwoods. It's very lightweight and has a long cord. It did the job. I think the steam could be a little hotter--although it remains steam, so it must be hot enough. I felt the floor immediately behind a swoop and it was cold (?) The floor had dried, though. I think the pads are great (they pick up very well and stay pretty dry) but it seems that perhaps they are so thick that the steam doesn't come through as much as it could. The two velcro strips probably don't help with that, either. But, all in all, it works great and I am very happy after trying multiple mops. Shark gets my vote!

3 out of 5 stars It's ok but not powerful enough   October 1, 2008
This mop works alright for light jobs but you're not going to get up any tough spots no matter how long you hold down the handle and steam it. It also streaks a little on my laminate floors. It may work better if there was a scrubbing area on the pad.
I'm returning this and looking for a more powerful mop.

3 out of 5 stars Ok to wipe up, but not for heavy duty mopping   October 1, 2008

We got this mop to possibly remove some dirt from our vinyl kitchen floor. Our vinyl floor has a tiny pattern in it and dirt gets in the textured spots. I thought the Shark being a steam mom would lift the dirt but it did not. It can wipe up well but as far as deep cleaning it does not do a good job. I do like it better than the sponge mop. It does provide a cleaner mopping process than a regular mop. I still use it but my expectations of it have lowered since using it.

3 out of 5 stars expensive solution to a basic problem   September 28, 2008

If you value fast drying time, the Shark is a good item for you. If you want a clean, shiny floor, then save a few bucks and use a regular mop.

The key advantage of the Shark compared with a regular mop is drying time. Because it uses steaming hot water, the floor dries almost immediately. Family members can walk on the floor right away, and the mopper does not have to plan his exit from a room to avoid painting himself in a corner.

It's not clear that the Shark cleans any better than a sponge mop, however. The latter does better with heavier, stickier dirt. While you rinse a sponge mop periodically, the steam mop (perhaps because less liquid is involved) seems to redistribute light dirt less and leave less of a mess on the periphery of the floor.

The steam mop leaves my linoleum-like kitchen floor looking dull, whereas the sponge mop with an all-in-one cleaning solution leaves it shiny and cleaner appearing.

Parting thoughts: (1) The Shark's handle flexes a bit, suggesting a lack of durability. (2) My wife bought this. If owning a gadget makes you (her) more inclined to clean, then it's worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars So clean   September 24, 2008

I used this for the first time tonight after purchasing it at Costco today and I love it! My hardwood floors and tile floors are nice and clean and I'm not worried one bit about mopping chemicals getting on my kids' or dogs' feet. Awesome product!
