When barbecuing, the chef always risks burning that carefully-seasoned rump roast to a crisp. Whether a minor household emergency calls the chef away from duty or the grill heats up with unusual speed, blackened hot dogs and charred veggie kabobs happen. Thus the barbecue aficionado must do his or her best to show vigilance over the open flame, keeping the eyes on the juicy, tender prize. This task becomes particularly challenging during the winter months when daylight ceases before the typical workday ends. The barbecue specialists at Weber recognize the need for visibility in grilling and the overall poor quality of built-in barbecue lights. To combat these challenges, Weber created their Grill Out handle light.

The handle light features water- and heat-resistant nylon housing, reinforced with glass for increased durability. Three LED bulbs illuminate the grill, activated by a tilt-switch sensor when the grill lid rises. A manual on/off button also ignites the light. The LED bulbs shine for a lengthy 10,000-hour lifetime while three AAA batteries power the light for approximately 20 hours. Weber designed the handle light for Weber Genesis and Summit grill models, though the two included mounting brackets also may accommodate other grills with circular thermoplastic or round stainless-steel handles. Coolest gadget for you grill May 27, 2008
I debated if this was really worth with (why not just use my patio light) but I love this thing. It lets me keep my outside are dark to sit outside and enjoy the evening without attracting bugs but still see whats on the grill.

Best feature is how it turns on automatically when I lift the grill cover up.

Everyone I have showed this too thinks it is the coolest grill gadget ever.

I purchased two of these lights for my Weber Genesis e320 grill and they are wonderful. It's nice to have them mounted right on either side of the handle, where they are not in the way at all. They turn on automatically when the lid is opened and turn off when closed. Others had mentioned the lights staying on when you close the lid; they do go "dim" for a very short while, then turn off when in the "Auto" mode, but I don't see that this would cause any big problem with battery life, as they are extremely dim and only for a very short time. They also can be turned completely off when you don't need them (such as during the day.) They are fairly bright, but they could be brighter. It's enough light to grill by with no problem though. I would recommend having two of them for sure, unless you have a very small grill.

Works with Weber Spirit E-310 March 23, 2008
I didn't see my grill listed on this page or on the Weber page even though the Spirit E-310 has the same bar configuration as the 2004-2005 Genesis Silver models, so I gave Weber a call and I confirmed the compatibility.

My light arrived shortly after and it attached perfectly using the included "B" bracket. I tend to do my grilling at night and I'm impressed by how much more I can see with this little light overhead instead of a porch light behind my back.

Grilling in the Winter isn't Dark Anymore! February 19, 2008
They suggest one for my grill (a Genesis 320) but after my last clip on led light I got two. I have mounted them on the left and right side of the handle and love them! Together they are quite bright and make quite a difference. Also to one of the other reviewers who said that they stay on after closing the lid, they do stay dimly lit for a while, but appear to go completely out after about a minute or so. I turn them on when I start grilling and turn them off when I finish.
