If you are a beginning canner you might need some of these pieces. I like the jar holder and the tongs. I have also used the colander but the other items were not needed. The magnetic pieces do not work in the water where I tried to use them, and the plunger air remover wasn't needed, I just rattled the jar to remove air.

The Fox Run 5 peice canning set has made canning easier! No more hot water splashes when pulling jars out of the canner. No more burnt fingers when tightening the rings. GREAT product!
