Amazon.com Review
This professional-grade frothing thermometer clips to the side of a frothing pitcher and permits baristas (espresso machine operators) to instantly and precisely measure temperatures while steaming milk for cappuccinos or caffe lattes. The thermometer measures temperatures from 120 to 180 degrees F, and the optimum frothing temperature zone is indicated on the 1-1/4-inch dial in purple. The instrument has a 5-inch stainless-steel stem. --Fred Brack

5 out of 5 stars Thermometer   September 17, 2008
Greatest thing ever for making a latte at home. Never liked what we got from our machine, but it's amazing what getting the right temperature for the milk can do - we used to try to gauge the heat of the milk by touch, but using this made it clear that we were way off. It really helps.

4 out of 5 stars cappuccino thermometer   August 13, 2008
wonderful little thermometer. Allows you to make cappucino froth just like the big guys. Only consideration is that it is only 5 inches long. Not meant for tall container. Get a frothing cup to fit.

4 out of 5 stars Economical   August 12, 2008
Plus - Easy to read, non-adjustable, very responsive
Minus - Clip does not fit the Krups XS5020 Frothing Pitcher tightly. If it did it would be 5 stars

1 out of 5 stars Avoid this model!   June 21, 2008

First, I feel foolish for having bought this thermometer in the first place, seeing as the range on the display is 120-180. This essentially eliminates being able to ensure that milk to be frothed is cold enough. Plus, milk for lattes should never be stretched beyond 100 (even lower if you have a more powerful frother), which, obviously, is below the range of this thermometer. Then there's the responsiveness problem. By the time this thermometer registers 140, the milk is already screeching violently.

I bought this thermometer to replace a digital instant-read thermometer that I had ruined by keeping it too close to a hot grill. But I'll definitely be buying a better thermometer.

5 out of 5 stars This is an excellent buy!   June 16, 2008
I recently purchased a new espresso maker and wanted to make sure I was frothing the milk correctly. I purchased the Taylor Classic. It has been an excellent investment. It works well and the price is most reasonable. I'm very happy with this thermometer.
