4 out of 5 stars Great product with few flaws   May 9, 2008
Bought on sale for $129. Can't get anything this good for this price anywhere!
We also own a 14 cup Cuisenart, and my wife likes this one better. Would give this one 4.5 stars but amazon doesn't allow 1/2 stars.
The reason for the non-perfect score is that sometimes liquid or thin pastes can dribble into the stem area of the base. I.e., there isn't a perfect seal between the bowl and the base where the chopping blade is connected. Spillage is minimal (1 teaspoon or so), but it happens often and needs a small cleanup. Great product overall!
Have also owned a Hamilton Beach processor in the past...unless you can't afford the more expensive models, only go with KitchenAid or Cuisenart!

3 out of 5 stars KitchenAid KFP750OB   May 5, 2008

Generally I really like KitchenAid products. In fact, I replaced a 23 year old KitchenAid unit with this item. I like the unit for its power and capability, but it does have a flaw that is hard to ignore.

As a safety precaution, the bowl and lid must be on in order to get the unit to operate. There is a safety switch that is pressed when the bowl and lid are in place. When the lid snaps into the handle of the bowl, it causes a mechanism in the handle of the bowl to press the safety switch. Quite often, when bowl and lid are in place on my unit, the mechanism does not push the switch far enough to allow my unit to run. To get around this problem, I have to firmly push the bowl of the unit in the direction of the switch.

I find this annoying, and I'm concerned over time, this may stop working. In MY opinion, the mechanism in the handle is not constructed with precision engineered parts. They are plastic, which is not evil by its self. But the mechanism is obviously not made to standard where you can be confident the safety switch will be pressed every time.

Given the cost of the unit, and that KitchenAid promotes itself as a high end product provider, I think they blew it on this switch mechanism. If my unit is typical, (which obviously I have no way to tell) I think this will be a big turn off (pun intended) and ultimately affect customer satisfaction and acceptance of this product.

1 out of 5 stars Poor design - classic example of "over engineering"   May 4, 2008

I am sorely disappointed with this machine. It's a classic example of taking a simple concept and making it complicated.

There are too many little pieces, gadgets, and whiz bangs that you have to assemble in order to make it work. The small bowl is too small, and frequently leaks over into the large bowl. All of the little nooks and crannies in the various blades and other attachments collect all of the food bits and are hard to clean.

You can't get much into the small bowl, and the large bowl doesn't do a good job of chopping or processing with a smaller batch. No happy medium here. For the price, you'd think you could get a machine with variable speeds, too.

The only good feature it that it runs quiet. I've used Kitchenaid products for years - that's why I bought this one. However, this one is a real disappointment. Be sure and try one or see a demo BEFORE you lay out the bucks for this work of art....

5 out of 5 stars Great food processor   April 28, 2008
This Food processor has plenty of power, is user friendly, and is well built. I like the storage box for the additional components which are dish washer safe! If you are looking for a food processor this one should be right at the top of your list!

4 out of 5 stars Great Machine   April 21, 2008
I received it in 2 days which was a nice surprise when I was given a 5-7 day quote. It came well packaged so no damage was done. When people say it quiet they mean it. Our old processor could be herd 3 doors down. This one my wife can run it without disturbing the kids as they watch TV at low volume basically in the same room less than 10 feet away. It makes short work of anything she throws at it. The only problem she has so far with it is when she uses the smaller bowl, Some of the mix spills into the larger one which means she has to wash it as well. Not a big deal though considering she can dice/slice and shred all of our pizza toppings in under 5 minutes and wash both bowls where as doing it by hand took 45min to an hour.

Love it recommend it to anyone, it's worth its wait in gold.
