Function and art interlock in the sculptural Block-Glas series from Rosenthal. Each vase, bowl, or candleholder serves a true purpose but is so impressive to look at that each becomes an art piece in itself. This cubic vase, measuring 5 by 5 by 5 inches, is crafted of brilliantly clear glass. Contrasting with that clarity is a round inner chamber that has been sanded to a smooth, frosty finish. This bulb within the cube holds water for flowers or simply draws the eye in wonder.

Rosenthal, one of Germany's most prestigious porcelain manufacturers, demonstrates a longstanding interest in art and design. Block-Glas won a 2005 design award in Frankfurt, adding to the company's roster of award-winning collections.
