Amazon.com Review
Legendary Weber quality, tons of thoughtful features, and built-to-last construction make this propane-fueled gas grill a solid choice for years of pure grilling pleasure. Three high-grade stainless steel burners run the length of the durable, thick-walled cast aluminum cookbox, inputting a powerful 36,000 BTU per hour and producing exceptionally even heat without hot or cold spots. Each burner is individually controlled to enable either direct or indirect cooking, while the infinite control valves allow exceptionally precise temperature control. The Genesis Gold C also adds a heavy-duty side burner that lets you prepare your entire meal in one spot, heating side dishes and sauces while your meat grills. 611 inches of total cooking area provide enough room to cook for even large parties and include a convenient warming rack, to keep already-cooked foods warm or toast hamburger buns, and a warm-up basket, to cook easily burned foods like fish or vegetables and to provide more warming space. Weber's Crossover ignition system makes starting the grill easier than ever, lighting all three burners in succession with just the push of a button.

Like all Weber gas grills, the Genesis Gold C features heavy-duty stainless steel Flavorizer bars to eliminate the flare-ups caused by lava rocks and ceramic briquettes; fats and juices hit the angled bars and sizzle away, adding delicious, smoky barbecue flavor instead of flames. A slide-out bottom tray funnels grease away from the burners and into a removable catch pan for quick and painless clean-up. The grill includes a roomy storage area with solid steel bottom shelf, while a swing-up work surface offers plenty of space to spread out sauces, marinades, utensils and other prep essentials. The work surface is made from granite-look Thermoset for maximum durability, heat resistance, and ease of cleaning, and features four sturdy hooks to keep favorite barbecue tools close to hand. The double-walled stainless steel hood adds a layer of insulation to trap heat and protect from discoloring.

Thoughtful add-ons and extra features elevate this grill above similarly priced models. A built-in thermometer monitors the temperature inside the grill for precise cooking. Rugged, weather-resistant wheels are crack-proof in the most extreme temperatures and allow easy transport, while locking casters prevent the grill from rolling during cooking. The porcelain-on-steel control panel includes a meat temperature chart on the enameled surface for easy reference, and all three burners have screens to keep spiders from spinning combustible webs inside. Best of all, ten fasteners are all that's needed to put this grill together, meaning you'll go from box to barbecue in less than 40 minutes. The Genesis Gold C measures 63 inches high by 64-1/2 inches wide by 30 inches deep. Made in the USA, it's backed by a limited lifetime warranty. --Mary Park

2 out of 5 stars hate it   August 7, 2008

I bought this grill a while back. It does the job but burns the food more often than it should. It's hard to control the temperature and doesn't leave grill marks like a cast iron grill would. The next grill will be a cast iron grill. Stainless steel is overrated!

5 out of 5 stars Great Grill   April 11, 2008
I bought the weber genesis gold in march 2008. I been using it about 3 times a week. It is my first higher end grill and I enjoy using it. Before I got my Weber I had to deal with hot spots and yearly burner replacing. With the Weber the first thing I did was try to find a hot spot but believe me there is none!! It heats evenly and cooks like a dream. I love the control of having 3 burners and the side burner even cooked well with the wind blowing about 15-20 MPH. The side shelves are very easy to use. GREAT GRILL!!

5 out of 5 stars Nice Unit   May 30, 2007
Weber quality is here. The grill performs flawlessly with a minimum of flare ups. Good non-magnetic stainless used also. The flavorizer bars are sturdy and really add flavor to the meats!

5 out of 5 stars Now I know what the fuss is about   November 29, 2006
Owned a cheap gas grill that died after 2 years of less than stellar performance. I asked a few friends and a few sales people for recommendations and almost all of them said Weber. I am extremely happy to have taken their advice. I learned a lot about grilling from the included booklet and with this knowledge and this Weber, my family is now enjoying grilled food about 4 times a week. Great grill !!!

4 out of 5 stars Overall a great grill   September 25, 2006

I've had my Gold C for a couple of months now. It was an upgrade from an old Charbroil I had for about 10 years. I just did not realize how horrible that old grill was. The Weber product is heads and tails above what I was using. Don't let the BTU rating fool you - this grill will sear and char a steak as well as a cast iron skillet. I cooked some Omaha Steaks 6 oz top sirloins today - 8 minutes total cooking time for medium-rare, 10 minutes for medium. And the steaks were blackened but not burnt, just like they came out of my skillet.

The heat controls make it very easy to bring the pit to a desired temperature and keep it there when cooking items like pork tenderloin. The insulated hood keeps the heat in and helps with convection cooking. And heating is even over most all of the grilling area. Cooking a dozen or so hamburgers at a time is no problem.

On the downside:
- My old grill had a wooden lid handle. The Weber is stainless. Looks great, but it gets hot!
- The burners run side to side, not front to back. Makes it hard to keep something warm off to one side while still cooking on high heat elsewhere.
- The wheels are plastic, and that makes moving the unit around on my exposed aggregate patio a pain. Rubber wheels would be so much better.

I had problems with getting the grill lit when it first arrived. After a couple of calls to Weber, they did ship a replacement regulator/hose that took care of the problem. Customer service was great.

Overall, this is a solid 4 star item. There may be slightly better grills at this price, but the Weber customer service can't be beat. I know 10 years from now I'll still be using this grill and enjoying it.
