Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Naturally you want the heating advantages of anodized aluminum, and you want easy clean up, of course this cookware ahould be not only durable but also affordable. Calphalon's newest offering, Simply Calphalon, makes all this possible. This set gives you the most essential equipment for cooking, and then some, along with the value of set pricing.

Amazon.com Review
The Simply Calphalon Nonstick Anodized line of cookware is an excellent alternative for those who prefer cooking on a nonstick surface and who desire Calphalon quality at a budget price. This 10-piece cookware set offers everything a cook needs to kick off a lifetime of meals. The set includes 8-inch and 10-inch omelet pans, 1-quart and 2-quart covered saucepans, a 3-quart covered saute pan, and a 6-quart covered stockpot.

Made of durable hard-anodized aluminum of uniform thickness, these pans are excellent conductors of heat and cook food quickly and evenly. Their double-coated nonstick interiors prevent food from sticking and make cleanup easier. The pans have oval stainless-steel handles with a blasted satin finish that are comfortable to grip and are held in place by sturdy stainless-steel rivets. Also made of brushed stainless steel, the lids are domed to keep moisture in during cooking. This cookware is oven-safe up to 375 degrees F so you don't have to dirty several pans to make one dish. All Simply Nonstick cookware should be hand-washed and is covered by a 10-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

2 out of 5 stars Poor Customer Service   July 14, 2008
Poor customer Service!

When we bought this set a few years back it seemed very well built. In general, the set as a whole was really good. However, over time, one of our pans was losing it's nonstick. Since it had a 10 year warranty (which is why we bought the set), we called up the customer service. They were insistent we pay for the shipping and insurance (for that price we might as well buy a new pan...definitely not calphalon though).

The eventually paid for all shipping costs for THEIR defective product. The representative was rather rude and obnoxious about it though. I have never seen such poor example of customer service from a supposed "reputable" company like calphalon. At least Kitchen Aid doesn't give you any hassle.

When this set wears out...which I am sure it will....I will never go back to Calphalon, they are overrated and overpriced with terrible customer service.

3 out of 5 stars beautiful minatures   June 29, 2008
I love Calphalon and I was very excited to get a set for the excellent price. When the box arrived I was suspicious of the size but hey...they are professional packers. The pots were beautiful and completely inadequate for cooking for a family of four. The smallest sauce pan could barely hold a can of soup. I packed them back up (and yes they all fit back in the box again) and Amazon graciously gave me a refund. Lovely pots but not big enough.

2 out of 5 stars Does not live up to the Calphalon reputation   June 8, 2008

Calphalon has a very good reputation. I used to sell cookware at an upscale department store, and Calphalon was always one of my best sellers. Indeed, this set is attractive and well priced. It feels substantial and works very well--for a while. So, allow me to provide a friendly warning. Do not buy this set simply based on the Calphalon name.

I've owned a number of different Calphalon sets, with this one being the most recent. I had the set for about three years before scrapping it. The main issue was the non-stick surface. It just does not hold up. It chips, wears off, and, well, sticks! Even when new, I was never happy with the performance of the course non-stick surface. I took good care of my cookware and did not use it excessively. I even used a set of Calphalon non-stick-safe utensils (which are junk, by the way). I got so fed up with the continued deterioration of the non-stick surfaces, that I finally replaced the set.

I replaced the large sauté pan with a Cuisinart piece, and the difference is amazing. The nonstick surface in the Cuisinart line is less course and really lives up to the name non-stick. I've gone back to Revere for the rest, and I could not be happier with Revere's "Convenience" non-stick line.

Bottom line: You can spend less and get more. Look at Cuisinart, Revere, or Kitchen-Aid for much better alternatives in non-stick cookware.

3 out of 5 stars Could Get Bigger Set for the Same Price   April 1, 2008

I bought this set one year ago. It is holding up perfectly, even though I put it in the dishwasher sometimes. I purchased the set from a department store, not amazon. The price was the same, but I also received a 5 QT covered sauce pan, which really comes in handy for bigger meals. Additionally, I got the bonus pan and didn't have to buy $200 worth of Calphalon products. So, the actual cookware gets 5 stars, but the price gets 1 star because you can find a bigger set of the exact same product for the same price.

4 out of 5 stars nothing lasts forever   May 2, 2007

Notice a wide discrepancy in reported durability of this cookwear? Let me propose that pots are rarely ruined in years, they are ruined in seconds. Different materials, different bad acts. In the case of non-stick cookwear there are several fragilities, the most easily exceeded of which is probably dry preheating. It's easy with a kitchen range to overheat and wreck almost any cookwear, including cladded steel and cast iron. As for dishwashers: if you don't want to wash your cookwear by hand, stick to plastic and cook in a microwave. (My Calphalon cleans with hot water and a sponge, sometimes a small squirt of detergent, in seconds.) If you understand and respect its limits, Calphalon, even toy Calphalon which this is, will last a long time and work extremely well. To the person trying to cook egg whites without fat: oh, please! why not just drink them raw?
