Amazon.com Review
Steam away creases in a badly crumpled shirt with the Compact Pro 300 Ironing System from Italian home appliance giant DeLonghi. The iron improves upon previous steam irons with its enhanced pressurized boiler, constructed to convert even harsh tap water into steam. With an adjustable thermostat and varying steam levels, the professional ironing system accommodates a wide variety of fabrics, ranging from delicate silks to cotton and linen. The well-designed iron handle adapts for left- and right-handed users alike.

The steam iron features a heavy-duty aluminum soleplate with a polished satin finish for snag-free, smooth ironing with even heat distribution. DeLonghi crafted the boiler in two materials to extend its steam conversion capacities, using stainless-steel construction in the upper portion and a super-alloy bottom. For greater thermal heat, the boiler tank is molded to enable the heating to rest within the bottom. The tank holds up to 1 liter of water for 2 hours of steam ironing. Users grip the ergonomically friendly cork handle to operate the iron. The ironing system also adjusts to steam vertically for curtains and hanging items. As with all electrical appliances, read the enclosed warnings and user guidelines for the steam iron before use. This item is covered by a limited three-year warranty and weighs 13 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

5 out of 5 stars amazing   September 15, 2008
Amaziong iron, I remember been in Italy and watch my mother ironing, boy people iron a lot over there. After a long search I found it on amazon.com, (great service) so, I had to buy it. No regreats what so ever, the only down site is that here in the US everthing plugs in on a 110v outless requiring more time to heat up and more energy to keep the steam going. I will recomand this to everyone.

3 out of 5 stars if it keeps working it is great to use...mine didn't   September 10, 2008
Had my Stiromeglio for about 5 months and steam started escaping around the iron base. Burns me now when I try to use it.

Not very well made obviously, and when I received it I was a bit concerned because the exterior is all molded plastic.

I really enjoyed it for five months....now not so much

3 out of 5 stars DeLonghi Stiromeglio Compact Pro 300   September 3, 2008
DeLonghi Stiromeglio Compact PRO 300 Ironing System with Pressurized Boiler
I have owned the Rowenta Expert Steam Generators that I have loved, loved, loved. The first one worked for about 4 years and then stopped steaming. It seemed like the button on the handle was locked or broken. I sent it in for repairs and it was the broiler tank that had gone bad, the cost was about $90.00. It lasted about another 2 years and then quit working. I decided to try a different brand (the Delonghi Compact pro 300) Things I love about this is it is quiet. My old Rowenta was like a generator turning on and off when the boiler would heat up. The steam on the pro 300 is only on the tip of the iron, but there is a lot of steam. It just takes some time getting use to. The plug in cord is nice and heavy but is a little bit on the short side. The biggest draw back is that you can not see the water level. You have to use all the water in the tank before you can refill, but you have to wait for the iron to cool down about 20 minutes before refilling. I get busy and forget and then next time I go to use it there isn't any steam, so you have to turn it off and wait and fill the tank. The cost for one of these irons is well worth it. I use to go through 3 or 4 regular irons a year. You will never have to use a water bottle or starch again! big savings!!

4 out of 5 stars European style pressing   August 13, 2008
These type of ironing systems can be frequently found European households; chances are you've seen one of these if you've traveled there extensively. This one provides powerful steam and very smooth glide - leagues ahead of most "American-style" household irons... but then again, the price is also leagues-ahead, so it better outperform them!
This is not for the ocassional user, but for serious crafters, seamstress or folks that are perfectionists about pressing. You will do better with this than your average dry cleaner pressing.
Get ready for the amount of heat generated and be careful with steam burns. I find that it can be too powerful for certain fabrics and that seams tend to get "marked" or fabrics shiny - get ready to use a cloth in between your fabric and the iron... and even still you will get some... exercise care.

5 out of 5 stars Great Product   August 12, 2008
This iron makes a chore a pleasure. I use a clear plastic tube to determine how much water is left before starting to assure I have enough to finish the project. I think they could have come up with a better way. Other than that, a great tool for the job.
