Experts agree--most wines (even young ones) benefit from decanting before drinking, not just to remove sediment, but also to aerate the bottle's contents. In mingling with the large surface area of air inside a decanter, the wine softens and gains complexity, not to mention an attractive table presentation. The wide-body design of this attractive decanter maximizes the aerating effect, while the handle and angled mouth make it much easier to pour the contents and clean up afterwards. Great decanter, looks good, works well, too big August 19, 2008
Pros:
Great decanter, looks good, works well! The handle is very good and useful. Easy to clean and rest on it's side. Makes a good display piece on our sideboard. Speedy shipping.

Cons:
It is huge. Too big for a single person who wants to decant less than a bottle at a time. You have to decant at least a full bottle or 1.5 bottles to get any action out of this. I poured in a 1/2 bottle and the wine just formed a puddle on the floor of the decanter! :-)

Very good looking and works; in other words it generally pours without spills although it will if you work at it.

good for decanting a large amount of wine May 7, 2007
Nice looking item but not as elegant I had expected. Good for decanting wines when drinking w/ a group of people. However, I found it inconvenient to use when I am drinking alone which is most of the time. The base is just too big and it needs a lot of wine to fill up just the base of this decanter.

This is a great cheap decanter. Don't waste your money on a more expensive brand/model.

I'm very satisfied with this purchase and am writing this to clarify a couple points I was uncertain of based on other reviews. This decanter is glass. The box claims it is "mouth blown glass". It is made in China. The photo in the description depicts it holding one full bottle of wine (750 ml). It does not drip when it pours (just one drop rolls off the lip much as what happens when you pour from a wine bottle). It is nice looking, though it wouldn't be mistaken for a $200 crystal decanter
