Generously sized and tapered toward the rims to intensify and concentrate bouquet, the six glasses in this set are perfect for serving full-bodied red wines. Each glass has a capacity of 17 ounces so it can hold a full serving and still have ample evaporation surface for a wine's full aroma to rise in its tapered chimney. The glasses are machine-blown of 5 percent lead crystal, providing excellent transparency and brilliance for showcasing color and clarity. Elegant, finely balanced, lightweight yet sturdy, they have thin rims to ensure smooth sipping and are dishwasher-safe. Each glass is 8-1/2 inches high. Located in a small Bavarian town that bears the company's name, Spiegelau has been making glassware for nearly 500 years. Excellent value April 23, 2008
After we had broken a few too many of our favorite wine glasses, it was time to replenish our collection. Spiegelau glassware is attractive, affordable, and contributes to the overall enjoyment of a good glass of wine. Even though they are supposed to be dishwasher-safe, I still hand-wash them for safekeeping and longevity.

dishwasher required March 21, 2008
for those who have broken these glasses trying to wash them by hand---don't. They're dishwasher safe and survive much better that way. We have a bosch dischwasher (with all the attendant problems...but that's another story) and have never broken one of these glasses.

I asked for these for Christmas because they had such high reviews and looked so nice. I read that they were dishwasher safe but have never really believed that. The glasses are beautiful and are good for both red and white if you are not picky about wine tasting. Best part is I put them in the dishwasher (and I don't even have a wine glass compartment or anything) and they were totally fine--even next to mugs and other glasses. I will definitely get more.

Really good value January 30, 2008
For markedly less money than the comparable Vinum line from Riedel, this glass can make Tuesday night wines substantially more enjoyable. The best feature is the remarkably thin lip. The shape of the glass is appropriate for most red wines and preserves the nose of the wine, allowing the aroma to accumulate nicely. For afficianados, this is the level of glassware that you would expect in a restaurant with a serious wine program (but that you rarely find). Save the Riedel Sommelier line for your very special occasions and use this line for the rest of the year. These glasses are fragile and I would only handwash them, taking care not to put any torque on the stem.

Very good glasses. December 30, 2007
I like wine and drink a few middle price wines. These glasses are fine but very sturdy. I do only hand wash them as it seems a shame to ruin nice glass in dishwasher. I think they are much better value than Riedel glasses.
