With its subtle details and stately proportions, the Spiegelau Authentis wine decanter adds style to your table as well as improving the experience of your favorite vintages. Made in Germany from five percent lead crystal, the piece has a markedly elongated neck and a wide center with a precisely tapered outer edge. The underside of the body features an inward curve that creates a subtle swirl of lines when the piece is in motion. This generous design also increases wine's exposure to oxygen, enhancing both the flavor and the bouquet. Surprisingly easy to handle for its height, the decanter holds 1-1/2 liters of wine, stands 12-1/2 inches high, and measures 10 inches in diameter. Spiegelau recommends washing it by hand for best results. --Emily Bedard

Packing was good both from Spiegelau and from Amazon so the product was delivered intact and without issue. However, the quality of the machine-made lead crystal is poor and has many visual defects and bubbles in the glass. Being machine made, the decanter is also twice the weight of an equivalent hand-blown decanter making it cumbersome to handle even without 3/4 kg of wine. I'm very disappointed with the quality control and marginally disappointed with the weight. I do not know if Amazon or Spiegelau will exchange the product for one they've inspected for defects and have precious little patience for dealing with typical "customer care" departments. Perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised if I try...
