These glasses are lightweight because they are made of borosilicate glass - a strong heat resistant glass used to make scientific lab glass. It is much stronger than regular glass so it doesn't need to be as thick to be just as durable. With double wall construction, coffee, tea and other drinks stay hot longer. When drinking cold drinks, the dual layer construction works in the opposite direction to prevent your body heat from transferring to the beverage inside, allowing your drinks to stay cold longer. You don't need to use coasters as the double wall construction eliminates 'sweating', so you never have to worry about condensation gathering on your table. Bodum's double walled thermo glasses are dishwasher and microwave safe. They are scratch resistant and will not become cloudy over time. What's not to love? These handsome glasses combine great looks with insulating temperature control qualities and anti-condensation protection to boot. Keep your espresso piping hot in the morning and your sake cool in the evening with this set of two shot/espresso glasses, each 3 inches tall and holding 3 ounces of your favorite beverages. These glasses, like all Bodum Pavina glasses, are hand made and mouth blown, and cleverly feature a two glass walls, trapping air between the walls to provide insulation, keeping hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold. As an added bonus, the dual layers prevent condensation accumulating on the outside of cold drinks and dripping onto your wood tables.

The design is not only functional but adds a striking visual aspect to the containers also: beverages seem to float within the glass due to the double-walled design. This visual appeal is enhanced because the outer layer is shaped like a traditional round juice glass, while the inner layer has a more tapered profile. Best espresso glasses June 13, 2005

These are ideal espresso glasses. They allow you to see the crema during the pour, watch the settling and keep the shot hot until you are ready to drink it. They are remarkably light and feel delicate. They are apparently hand-blown in China and have a beautiful egg-like appearance. However, in the first set I bought, one glass had a small hole in the bottom (when I washed it water came in through the point used to blow the glass), but this was easily replaced. In other minor complaints, it would be nice if Bodum didn't feel the need to paint their logo across the bottom. Despite these minor defects, I love these cups and use them for every pour.

I know I'm not the only one who thinks these espresso glasses are awesome!!! Even true Coffee Geeks can attest, these are truly a 5-Star espresso experience in of themselves!

Despite what Mr. John Sanders says, these might not be 'traditional' espresso demitasses, but they insulate so well... my friend FROTHED milk in one, in the palm of his hand!
