Find the Conair branded version here on Amazon -- exact same unit, but at 1/3 the price (fifteen dollars)!

White noise machine July 17, 2007
I sleep better with some white noise in the room. I previously used a fan, but it died, and I decided a white noise machine would be more efficient. I love it. I'm using the ocean sounds, and its very peaceful.

Generally speaking, Homedics is fairly reliable. However, I was disappointed with this product. I found the sound to be of poor quality and there was a consistent "static" noise.
I have since purchased a similar product from Sharper Image, which works phenomenally better.

I recently went on vacation and stayed with my aunt's family. My cousin's bedroom was next door and she snores... loudly! I was having trouble sleeping and I discovered the noise masker. It worked beautifully... I actually had sleep for the first time in weeks. I more partial to the sounds of the water (rainfall, stream, etc) but on occassion I do enjoy the other sounds. I especially liked that it could be used with batteries for travel.
