Even as better ways of closing a wine bottle rise to
the top of the bottle, a wine-lover still needs to
pull an occasional cork.
This beautiful tool from the
French knifemaker Lagouile is often given as a gift
to those who like to pull a cork or two.
This rubber cushioned, widely used corkscrew is the
easiest, most convenient way to do it. Its grip is
comfortable, the screw penetrates cork easily but it lacks
the all-important two-step lever allows almost
anyone to muscle the cork out of the neck. It
slips easily into a pocket but it is heavy

My Laguiole hangs on the wall in my kitchen and I actually
