Product Description
"Three Cups of Tea" was composed by Jake Fleming to accompany the book Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. The song and the book advocate education in the Islamic countries of central and southwest Asia - specifically the education of girls. The song speaks of heroes who are children relentlessly pursiung their dream of an education even in the face of adversity, opression and poverty. For lack of adequate facilities, children often write their lessons in the sand with sticks. In reality, one penny buys a pencil and one dollar will fund a child's education for an entire month. To date Greg has helped build 55 schools in remote villages of Pakistan and Afghanistan with the help of his non-profit, Central Asia Institute (CAI) (www.ikat.org). Three cups of tea is an extraordinary story of one man's efforts to make a change (Viking 2006). Proceeds from this CD will help support CAI and Greg's efforts. Proceeeds from this CD will also help support Hand Me Down Some Silver, Inc., (HMDSS, Inc.) (www.handmedownsomesilver.org) a 501(c)3 corporation founded by Jake and Jeni Fleming. This scholarship foundation aims to fund private music lessons, purchase instruments, help students realize their own recording projects, and provides students with long-lasting, inspirational musical experiences, much like this song has for Amira.

This wonderful book describes how one man has made a difference in the world today. If we all only had Greg's heart...

5 out of 5 stars Best Non-Fiction Ever   May 23, 2008

Being a mountain climber, it was easy to get started with this book. And once started reading this book I could not put it down. It went with me daily, from start to finish I was captivated. The writing style was dynamic, even poetic. You were there with Dr. Greg, and it is really mind blowing how he got on the inside of the 'Islamic faith'. Such a great human story, and to know it is real is uplifting. Greg is truly a saint and David is a remarkable journalist. This book should be required reading for all Americans, it is truly an epic. It changes perspectives...

I bought this cd along with the book by the same name for both myself and my husband. I found it beautifully executed and find myself humming it throughout the day. I will purchase more of Jeni Flemming's music.

This is a lovely companion song to the book Three Cups of Tea. I adored the book and it is nice to hear gently sounds that remind me of the power of women's voices and the serenity of eastern sounds.
