Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
In Brian Weiss bestseller, Many Lives, Many Masters, nearly one and half million readers met Catherine. In a hypnotic trance, she summoned memories of past lifetimes, demonstrated an astonishing ability to transmit transcendental messages, and turned the life of a respectable psychiatrist upside down. Now, Dr. Weiss takes his research one breathtaking step further. He portrays two strangers, Elizabeth and Pedro, who are unaware that they have been lovers throughout the long centuriesuntil fate brings them together again. Arguing that each and every one of us has a soulmate whom we have loved in past incarnations, Dr. Weiss opens up entirely new worlds.

4 out of 5 stars This book gives you a whole new outlook on life.   August 7, 2008

The medical side is easy to understand and very interesting. I have recommended this book to many friends who never had an opinion on reincarnation. They all loved it and are now believers. I also recommend my favorite book in this topic I Love You. Now What?: Falling in Love is a Mystery, Keeping It Isn't

5 out of 5 stars Great read!   July 14, 2008
A great follow-up to Many Lives, Many Masters! This is a must-read for anyone curious and wanting to learn more about reincarnation.

4 out of 5 stars Fascinating to read   May 15, 2008
I always enjoy reading Brian Weiss' books. I feel he offers some real insight and hope for today's society, about living in the moment and creating your life to be one you really love. "Love is eternal" is an uplifting, powerful message delivered in an easy, engaging style throughout this book. His message of "never worry about meeting your soulmate" resonates deeply.

5 out of 5 stars Have we met before?   May 14, 2008
Only Love Is Real explores healing through past-life regression, focusing on the role past lives have in current day phobias and issues people expose on their therapists' couch.

Weiss shares Pedro's and Elizabeth's sessions of past life regression, revealing they are soulmates who have traumatically lost each other over and over again throughout time. Weiss shares his techniques and his discovery in this real life love story of two strangers who sought the same psychiatrist for treatment but ended up reuniting with the one soul their souls have subconsciously been searching for. No telling if this therapy is truly legitimate, but given Weiss following and success, it is surely intriguing and provokes thought on the subject of reincarnation.

Only Love Is Real is definitely worth the read for those who've had the "I feel like I've known you forever" feeling when meeting someone for the first time.

1 out of 5 stars An Ivy league Psychiatrist turns psychic   May 7, 2008

An Ivy League Psychiatrist turns psychic. That is what this book is all about. Most recently, neuroscientists coined an explanation on the function of dreams. It was very similar to Sigmund Freud's explanation. Dreams are the ways our sub conscious minds resolve conflicts that arise daily in our lives. After multiple follow ups on many subjects scientists explained that most of our dreams are bad -traumatic - and that all this dreaming is aimed for us to bring resolution to our internal emotional conflicts. When you wake up during a dream it is usually a nightmare. Therefore, nightmares are dreams without an ending. An unfinished emotional turmoil. That is why we remember those more vividly. Sometimes those bad dreams repeat themselves many times before they are resolved within our minds. Here comes this Ivy League graduate of Psychiatry and turns science upside down to give us his mythical version of dream therapy. He claims that regression therapy is the way our souls talk back to us from many previous lifetimes in order to teach us lessons in love. He becomes a guru instead of a doctor and applies his version of Hinduism, past lives, psychiatry to his unsuspecting patients. Did you have a recent family loss? Don't worry, they will come back and meet you in another body. Did you help your girlfriend to have an abortion? Don't feel guilty, the soul attaches itself after birth or even sometime afterwards. HA!! Funny bologna!! Did you have a divorce or a break up with someone you thought was your soul mate? Don't worry, that soul mate has not awakened himself or herself to you yet!! It might happen in another lifetime. Is your shoulder unexplainably hurting? The reason: in a past lifetime someone stabbed you in the back!!The list of nonsense goes on and on!! Yes, after multiple regression therapies, the passage of time, and thousands of dollars later, these people moved on with their lives, overcame grieve, loneliness, insecurities, lack of confidence etc. Similar to what would have been achieved through our nightly dreams and sufficient passage of time without the intrusion and manipulation of an overpaid illusionist. Our guru doctor simply added a touch of hope by replacing their reality with a dream of immortality. That made them feel safer. Helping these people to face mortality and admit and take responsibility for their own mistakes with the acceptance and knowledge of their human nature would have been too much trouble for this doctor. That would require honesty and having to convey his Columbia University learned knowledge to his patients. Apparently, this knowledge does not attach itself as easily as the body leaping souls that he "commands" during his regressions. Whatever works, I guess. Personally, "I would rather take the awe of understanding over the awe of Ignorance, anytime" - Douglass Adams. By the way, this book is written very poorly, it is very sketchy, aimed at an audience with the comprehension skills of sixth graders. The very gullible to whom this pseudo psychiatrist prefers to sell his baseless rhetoric.
