5 out of 5 stars Think globally, subscribe to World Watch.   July 16, 2008

What a wonderful world this would be if as many people subscribed to "World Watch" as are subscribed to Sports Illustrated. While hundreds of thousands of people dedicate countless hours to watching jocks throw balls around, "World Watch" provides vital information on the condition of the planet their children will be inheriting. Our corporate culture encourages us to avoid serious issues and to instead amuse ourselves to death; but for those looking for perspectives outside of the box created by PR agents of the "aristocracy of our monied corporations" (to use Thomas Jefferson's phrase) then magazines like World Watch are vital. It certainly contains lots of bad news about species extinction, deforestation, pollution and other outcomes of living under a global industrial dictatorship that is raping the earth; but "World Watch" also publishes articles on a wide-range of expanding efforts toward sustainability. A recent issue included an article on tidal power, and another article on how "green building" is going mainstream The Green Building Revolution.
So, for people who are interested in learning the latest about the condition of the planet, how it is being harmed, and how it can be restored, World Watch should be among the many independent magazines on your nightstand.
