2 out of 5 stars LIFTING STRAPS   July 2, 2008

I probability would not have bought this product if I would have known its limitations. It works well for large items that are taller than their width. The strap length can be adjusted for three discrete lengths, i.e., the adjustments are limited. I used it for a few items, but in my view the straps are not worth buying.

5 out of 5 stars it really works   July 1, 2008
i was skeptical but this makes moving awkward items easy for two people. moved a rear projection TV and a Treadmill with ease and just with my father. Without these it may have been a three person job or a lot of scuffed walls.

5 out of 5 stars These things work great!   June 19, 2008

I used these straps during a big move, and boy am I glad I bought them! I have a history of back problems, so I was a little nervous lifting the heavy items, but these straps make it a breeze. They really help emphasize proper lifting techniques, as you must squat with your legs and keep your back straight to get your arms in the straps properly and your hands against the item you're lifting. Really heavy items will STILL feel heavy, but the leverage you get with these straps is amazing.

They are not too useful for really short items though, as the lowest arm strap might not be low enough to get a good grip on the item. I found that they worked best for matresses, tall dressers, appliances, and my big sceen TV. It helps if the item has feet underneath...that will help prevent the straps from sliding out. If not, cross the straps as shown in the instructions, and you will have no problems. Stairs can be a bit tricky...you might need to have the person going up the stairs first to get a lower grip on the item so you remain level as you go up.

These things really work! I highly recommend them....

1 out of 5 stars There's a reason the pros use shoulder straps.   June 13, 2008

I bought a set of these in preparation for moving a piano. Since we were a little short handed (only 4 guys when you should probably have 8) I thought it was a good solution. But when I tried to use them I found them to be completely worthless. I couldn't get them to stay on my arms at all. They kept slipping no matter how often I readjusted or tried a different posture. Because these are supposed to stay on the forearm, they're going to severely limit your ability to adjust your hands and maneuver whatever your lifting even if they do work for you. In the end, I ended up throwing them away and just lugging the piano bare-handed.
I think something like a the "Shoulder Dolly" or "Teamstrap Moving Strap" would work a lot better because it anchors to your body and lets you do whatever you want with your hands.

I was very disappointed in this product. It does not work like it is suppose to. It is a complete waste, and furthermore,I do not recommend this product at all.
