1 out of 5 stars i am on hold with panasonics customer service   October 23, 2008

when you call somebody and push speaker the phone will hang up as if you pushed the off button instead. also many times(it is getting worse) when somebody calls if the phone is not on the charger the phone will go blank and you have to put the phone on its base once you connect it to the base if the caller has not hung up you will be able to answer the call.--the battery is not dead it shows full battery power-- my previous 2 phones were panasonics and i did not have any trouble. i am unable to send it back because it was a gift my husband bought and he gave it to me after the return date the problems started soon after we plugged in the phones ---- buyer beware ---- wish i would have gotten the one with the base you could answer the phones a least i would have a chance before a hang up

4 out of 5 stars pleased with phone   October 20, 2008
I have had these phones for a few weeks now. I think they work well. I like the intercom feature. I may not be utilizing all the features. I need to look at the manual. I wish the answering machine had an audible alert that there are messages waiting. And for some reason, even when I answer the phone it says I missed a call. But, overall, the sound quality is good. I have the main phone sitting next to my computer which has several wireless add-ons and I do not see any interference. That's a plus

5 out of 5 stars Great for what I want in a cordless phone   October 17, 2008

This phone model looks to be over a year old, so I called Panasonic to compare it to their other more recent lines. They still consider this phone to be current generation technology, and it occupies a distinct slot in their product line -- the range + battery life + modest features slot. (They didnt phrase it exactly that way of course.) There are some other current generation panasonic cordless phone models with more features for about the same price or a bit more, but you lose a ton of battery life (i.e. talk and/or standby time).

What I want out of a phone is (1) whole house & even backyard range with good sound quality; (2) long battery life; and (3)an answering machine that works. This phone has all of those things.

Other features I care less about, so I'll leave for others to review for the most part. I will briefly note that the speakerphone sounds quite good, to the extent that I now use it when the grandparents call so the kids can participate. I miss the heft and traditional phone shape of my 10 year old cordless panasonic that also had whole house range and good battery life, but everyone seems to make the flimsy bar phones these days so cant fault panasonic for that, especially at this modest price point.

Its a phone. It does what a phone should. If you need particular features, best to check into it because this is not designed to be a feature rich phone compared to some other panasonic phones. As for my family, we havent had good range + good battery life for years, so this is a nice upgrade.

4 out of 5 stars I Love the Panasonic Dect 6.0 Phone system!   October 17, 2008
I love the Panasonic Dect. 6.0 Expandable phone system. The features that I really value are 1) information added into the directory on one phone automatically gets transferred to the other phones, 2) a light on the phone blinks when I have a message, even though I do not use its built-in answering system, but use comcast, 3) Caller ID is both written on the screen and is announced "Talking Caller ID"(which you can turn off if you don't want, but I find it helpful if I am across the room and want to know who is calling), 4) the intercom feature is wonderful, as I can call down to my children in the family room and tell them dinner is ready, without yelling down the stairs, 5) when I arrive home and look at the screen for messages, it tells me both who has called and the phone number from which they called.

The one thing that has frustrated me is that occassionally, a handset freezes or dies. I take the batteries out and recharge the handset and that seems to fix the problem. Since the set came with four phones, I just use another one of the handsets while the problem handset is charging again. (It isn't always the same one, but happens occassionally to each of them, it seems.) If you can put up with that, it is a great system.
