I've read so many reviews saying that LCD flat screens can't produce solid blacks. This Samsung produces rich blacks, evident in dark scenes. The glossy screen does produce some glare/reflections and may be a problem in very bright rooms, but not any worse than a regular tube TV.
I am having some problems with the Component Cable hookup: you can see multiple scrolling bars going up the screen plus there is a humming sound coming out of the speakers (only using the component cables). The HDMI hookups work perfectly though, no scrolling bars and no humming sounds. I highly suspect the culpret is Time Warner Cable (would not be surprising). Waiting for my DVD player to come to test the component cable again.
Overall, with the HDMI connections, the picture is excellent - rivals plasmas. Motionflow technology works well with sports, taking away most of the blur. The red frame is not that bad, in certain lights it is not noticable. I actually kind of like it. Only wish the remote could do more, so I wouldn't need 5 remotes for five different things.
Amazon delivery was spectacular. Two guys delivered it up a flight of stairs, took it out, and threw out the boxes for us. Extremely nice.

Great TV, Great buying experience July 3, 2008

I'm not very technical in nature so i won't get into that. What I will say is after doing my research I chose this TV and went and looked at it a best buy and I was sold. I have had the 50" Pioneer plasma for over a year and it's beautiful however, if an LCD was going to convert me, this would be one of them. More importantly, I would like to mention the experience of buying through AMAZON. I was sceptical paying all this money for a TV through the mail but I saved about $400 (including tax) from the local BB so I thought I would give it a try. In my case, when the TV arrived, the delivery guy brings it inside, opens the top half of the box, hooks it up to a scource to ensure it works and then left. Way more than expected. Now for the icing on the cake. I recently learned about AMAZON's post-order price guarentee. They will refund any reduction in price for 30 days after shipment and let me tell you, in my case it was like watching the stock market (4 price changes in a day). Anyway, wait as long as you can, write down the day and price, call them and wala! I received another $139 back on my visa. I will have no more reservations about big ticket items through them.

TV's great - Manual is worthless July 2, 2008

The TV is great. The manual is not worth the paper it is printed on. It focuses entirely on how to use the menu and make selections. There no description of functions or relationships between functions. The later is very important because some selections preclude the use of others and you are completely on your own to figure that out.

I am very pleased with this TV. I was very disappointed that this unit does not have a variable volume output. I use the audio from my receiver so I have to use two remotes to control the volume control and channel selection. I am use to using Sonys variable audio output so I could control everything with one remote. I also found the limitation of video inputs to be limited. I guess I could buy a new equipment but the ones I have do not allow for the new connections so there are limitation on connecting older VCRs and DVD player that don't have the new connections. These are minor but still important items that Samsung does not seem to think are important. Overall, still very nice and glad I bought it. Terry
