Super Fantastic August 17, 2008
I have had my new Samsung about 3 weeks now. And have loved every minute of it. The TV has tons of features that make it FAR better then the Vizio in the other room. The Samsung is brighter, sharper, smoother, sounds better, and it looks great. When switching sources, it shows the inputs that have something plugged into the port. When I put in a DVD, the TV automatically switches to the DVD input. You will not have any second thoughts after ordering this unit. If there was enough room in the bedroom, I would get a second one for in there.

Simply Spectacular! August 17, 2008

Received the 650 at 46" today and it is simply spectacular! Pulling in 1080i from cable box and HDMI cable let me watch Phelps get #8 gold in absoulute clarity. Even watching DVDs in 480 showed details never seen before.

I did the research on all available contenders and this proved the champ. Go to Best Buy and look, but do not buy there, as prices are too high. Delivery was fast and great with white glove. Price beat Best Buy by over $400 and no sales tax or shipping cost. Do not even consider Sony, which I looked at very critically. Samsung price:value is huge. We also have several Samsung PC flat panels and they do nothing but perform great. Cannot make a higher recommendation for any product...Get yours in time for football season and root for the Steelers!

Also, do not buy Monster $100 HDMIs. Get the HDMIs on the recommended link at Amazon for under $10. HDMIs only send 1s and 0s and do not need the Monster cables for great def/sound. Monster is good for analog, however and I use them for that purpose.

Simply amazing August 16, 2008

Like most everyone who buys a TV, I researched this and other sets for the past 3 months. I finally decided that I wanted this one, but it took me a few weeks to finally pull the trigger. I'm glad I did though! I ordered on Tuesday, and by that Friday around noon, CEVA was already calling me to set up a delivery time on Saturday. CEVA's tracking was a little weird, for all those days it still said my package was in Ohio (it shipped from Kentucky), and then all of a sudden I got the call. They were really polite and when I asked them to call me ahead of time they said no problem.

On Saturday, the delivery guy called me about an hour before he arrived. It was two guys, and then brought the package in, unpacked it for me, put the batteries in the remote and let me turn it on myself. There was no damage whatsoever, no dead pixels, clouding, or any other problems. A perfect set! I hooked it up to my digital cable and my Xbox360 and it is by far the most outstanding picture I've ever seen. The remote takes a good 10 minutes to get used to, but it's fine overall and I don't find it to be too much of a nuisance. The sound is also much better than people give it credit for. I haven't tried out all the little features and things yet, but so far it's a great investment and I'm happy I went through with it.

Touch of Color bezel ruins otherwise good TV August 16, 2008

The Touch of Color plastic bezel is made of such soft plastic that it is impossible not to scratch. No matter how carefully you try to protect the plastic, any attempt to dust or clean the bezel results in fine scratches and eventually a white haze. What's worse, any lights in the room catch the hazy scratches and cause horrible, glaring reflections. I called Samsung technical support twice about this problem, and all they said was "we don't warrant against physical damage."

It's a shame, because the quality of the picture is very good. But you can't watch the picture because your view is constantly distracted by the glare from the bezel.

My advice is to spend your money on an LCD with a more traditional metal or solid black frame.
