5 out of 5 stars Great book, lots of good info   January 12, 2008

I purchased the KitchenAid Pro 600 for the family and heard a lot of people say that this was a must have. I would have to agree. It gives you a lot of great recipies to learn how to use your mixer and they really taste wonderful! I could see using this book years down the road, lots of good info.

4 out of 5 stars Somewhere between a 3 and a 4 star...Great for learning your mixer, but not the very best recipie book   January 6, 2008

Overview: if you've never used a mixer before, and just spent $300 on one, this $15 investment will help you learn to use it like a pro. However, if you've had your mixer for some time and are good at using it, there are more impressive recipes in other books.

This book has some nice recipes in it. But what has been best about it for me was is learning techniques to get the most from my mixer. There is a bit of a learning curve learning to bake with a standing mixer for the first time and this book helps with that. For example, since I don't have the room to knead and make bread in my tiny apartment, I've been trying my mixer. But it can be hard to get a good crumb from machine kneaded bread. This book's bread recipes included the extra steps and techniques specific to bread making with the mixer. The cookie and cake recipes are nice too.

A small complaint would be that I don't think the recipies are spectaucluar. I've got much better ones in other books and from my family. But again, using my ingredients and their steps and techniques, my cookies and cakes are coming out even better than when made by hand.

The only big drawback to this book is that so many of the recipes call for attachments I can't afford and don't have the room for, you can still make most of those recipes, you just have to do some of it manually.

One final note though, I LOVE the organization of the book. The recipes are well laid out and very easy to read through, much better than other books I own.

1 out of 5 stars WHAT, NO PICTURES?!   December 23, 2007

Very disappointing book, as it has no photos of the finished recipes. Just a bunch of grey words that does not make for a good cookbook. I work in book publishing and know that photography - especially food photography - is way more expensive than having an author simply crank out a bunch more words.

The result is an uninspiring cookbook with over 300 recipes that are hard to read, and likely to be skipped over, entirely.

The seller sent the book on time I am sure, The ups driver didn't deliver it to me. I was very frustrated, but seller took care of the situation for me. I now have the book and am very happy with it.

5 out of 5 stars Brownie points with my wife, no pun intended.   November 7, 2007

This is a great book! My wife loves it and so I scored brownie points when this arrived. I probably gained 5-10 lbs in a week because I couldn't get her to stop baking. Recipies come out tasting great.
