Nice but Not Durable February 22, 2007

When I was given this as a gift, it was before it came with a lid which is too bad because I like the the idea of a lid for it. It worked well as a measuring device for liquids especially but eventually it had to be tossed because it became unreadable from the dishwasher. I may have put it on the lower rack of the dishwasher( it says top rack safe only ) but it is tall and sometimes that seems like it would be the best place to put it, not to mention I didn't embed 'top rack only' in my head for a measuring cup.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. It has various measurments available and comes with a lid, which is ideal for making gravies and sauces.

The only reason we give this product four out of five stars is because it is made of plastic rather than pyrex. Although the plastic is durable and high quality, pyrex would hold up better in the long run.

As for its practicality, it's hard to beat this little beaker. The graduated measurements make it extremely easy to read and to fill. It is very well balanced and doesn't tip over when liquid is poured into it, which was a fear of mine when I bought it.

I purchased the Emsa Perfect Beaker Measuring Beaker just before Christmas and have used it several times already. I feel that it excells in measuring dry ingrediants. I like the light weight and it seems sturdy. I have not had it long enough to see how it holds up. I still prefer a more traditional measuring cup for liquids since they have a pouring lip. In all fairness, I have not really used it much with liquids so it may do fine.

Buy several. This is a whole different world than those Pyrex measureing cups, (which you'll still need) and these just have a super cool neat-o factor to boot.
These measure in a lot of different systems at once, they're plastic (safer) and your friends will want one.
Love mine!
