CAREFUL ON THE SHIPPING September 3, 2007

Can't rate the product. It was sent to my house 2x (had to reorder) because both times it showed up in pieces. It was clear by the way it was packaged that breakage was imminent. I ending up buying it from Chef's Catalog and when they shipped it was in packaged well, so no breakage.

This is a fine piece for making gratins. The contents cook evenly and brown, without unevenness or burning. It's large enough to serve a crowd.

Amazon's Misrepresentation October 27, 2004

In the product detail, Amazon states that this product was made in France, as it should since this is a trademark French brand name, so I ordered one.

But the actual product I received was made in Thailand. I contacted Amazon for a resolution since I placed this order with a promotional certificate. I received extremely unprofessional and ignorant responses only containing their lengthy return policy and they completely avoided my inquiry of the misrepresentation of the country of manufacture.

I also purchased a $200 Panasonic Drill that advertised by Amazon as made in Japan, but in fact was made in Mexico. I also wrote to Amazon about the misrepresentation, I have never received any response at all.

I think many customers would simply not have made the purchase had they known the misrepresentation of such nature. Since the return for such heavy items are very inconvenient. Some will just settle even when they deserve a better solution. Shame on Amazon for such misrepresentation and intentional avoidance to correct the mistake.
