5 out of 5 stars Great, with patience   August 15, 2008

If I wrote a review after the first attempt, I would be negative: gelato came out soupy and full of ice crystals. I changed a couple of things: first, I left the bowl in the freezer for longer than 24 hours; second, I left the mixture in the freezer for one hour (or 1 hour and half, it depends on the consistency of the mix) and then I put it in the ice cream maker. Ice cream and gelato are now great! Just patience!

I just recieved this icecream maker yesterday and todayI made ice cream , vanilla with lemon cheesebars...it turned out great ! Just make sure the bowl is frozen well. The only "problem" I had was that it is a bit loud , nothing that you could,t stand for 25 min. What a joy to taste and such fun to plan what you are going to add or what kind to make.

5 out of 5 stars Worked Perfectly   August 2, 2008

We just made our first batch of Banana ice cream in this maker. It worked perfectly the first time! Setup was dead simple and operation consists of turning it on and waiting 25 minutes. The ice cream is delicious and clean up was a breeze.

5 out of 5 stars If you use it as directed, then it's great!   July 28, 2008

The first time I used this, I had frozen the bowl in our deep freeze overnight. I figured that would be plenty of time for it to freeze. When I got it out, it was only partially frozen. I tried to use it anyway and ended up with liquid ice cream. After washing and drying the bowl, I put it in two plastic bags and in a different part of the deep freeze, hoping it would make a difference. The next day it was completely frozen and made perfect ice cream. So as long as you can get the bowl completely frozen, I'd say this works nicely.

4 out of 5 stars Would buy it again   July 26, 2008

This does a great job! We bought it after our old fashioned wooden barrel ice cream maker died. This freezes the ice cream better than the old one-- the key is to freeze the bowl well and cool the mix in the refrigerator until all the ingredients are cold. My only complaint is the size of the bowl-- it is not very big at all. It takes me three batches in this one to make what my old make could make in one batch. It says two quarts but it is not nearly that big. Still a great maker and I am pleased overall. We do need a second bowl, though so we can make more than one batch. Would buy it again!
