5 out of 5 stars I enjoy using this nonstick chef's skillet   April 13, 2008
This is my second Calphalon nonstick skillet. I have an older omelet skillet w/o the lid, but I rarely use it because it is not deep enough for items such as fish and stir-fry stuff. I don't want a stir-fry wok. I purchased this chef's skillet mainly because of its size, weight, nonstick surface, and lid. My fish turns out great using this skillet! The skillet is just right for me; I don't need to cook a lot since I am a bachelor for life.

Of course, the skillet is very easy to clean. This should be my last skillet - I've got another set of skillets from Calphalon stainless steel. I think the price for chef's skillet is a bit too high (compare this to the nonstick 13" deep skillet), but I am glad I made the purchase. Got from Macy's on sale and free shipping!

2 out of 5 stars Not for flat top stoves   March 10, 2008

I have had other Calphalon pans in the past and they were great. This one has been a big disappointment. The problem is I haven't been able to get one that is flat on the bottom. Three times I had the pan replaced, twice by the dealer and once by Calphalon and they all rock and spin on any glass surface. Actually the last pan was out of round as well. I think the quality control person fell asleep during this production.

1 out of 5 stars Waste of money...   December 22, 2007
I bought this 13" skillet about 2 and a half months ago and am very disappointed to find that there are nicks and chips in the inside surface of the pan. I never used any metal implements sharper than a table fork and didnt scrape hard with that, mostly only used a plastic spatula on it. Cleaned only with a Scotch-Brite pad as recommended by the manufacturer.

Pan still works fine but I have stopped using it because of the damage to the cooking surface since I don't want to eat the advanced polymer. Plan to send it back to Calphalon with a letter of complaint.

I thought these pans were my dream come true, a semi-nonstick pan that would stand up to everyday use without damage-- but it's really not much better than a cheap teflon nonstick counterpart. Don't waste your money!

5 out of 5 stars Another Terrific Product from Calphalon!   August 14, 2007

I truly love this skillet! As a serious cook with a large family, I use it often for pasta, stews, stir frying -- you name it. It holds enough for my brood without being too heavy to handle.

The quality really makes it worth the price. It heats up quickly and evenly and cleans up with just a quick wipe!

The only complaint I've had with this pan is that I can't use my favorite utensils with it (you can only use nylon/silicone utensils). And yet, ironically, Calphalon has put metal around the rim and handle of the glass lid which tends to scratch the pan when you store them together. Otherwise, it's a terrific piece of cookware that anyone would enjoy using!

After lots of research, decided to go this way. Just love it! Heats evenly, cooks well, easy to clean. Other choice was to go real cheap and replace every year or two. Like the idea of not having to do that.
If budget allows, a great choice.
