1 out of 5 stars You probably don't need it   January 25, 2008
I bought these for the Honeywell Humidifer I bought but the unit is so easy to clean I don't think I need-plus the directions I got said to put it under the heating coil and I didn't want to do that for fear it would heat up (???) if the unit ran dry and maybe become harmful.

5 out of 5 stars Best Mineral Pad on Market   January 20, 2008
Compared prices and ability to remove minerals normally found in in tap water these filtered out most of minerals in my humidifier. FIVE stars!

3 out of 5 stars Not sure   January 13, 2008
I've been trying to figure out exactly what these are doing for over two weeks and perhaps I will someday. My humidifier manual says the humidifier can run without them but I will have to clean the unit more frequently. Since the water where I live is very hard, I have to clean the unit twice a week anyway. So I've run the unit without them and I can't tell much of a difference.

Incidentally, the pads do pick up something since they get hard and chalky as they dry after being in the humidifier for just a few days. I'm not sure if they're supposed to get hard as rock but if I left the pad in for a week (the recommendation), I think they would.

It's still a mystery.

These pads are a necessary purchase for your Honeywell humidifier. You will need a new one every 2-3 weeks depending on how much you run the unit.

5 out of 5 stars Keeps It Clean!   December 2, 2007

These pads work great...help to minimize the calcium.

Although I am curious...is there any type of an additive product to help reduce the calcium besides using just the pads? Anything that can be added to the water?
