1 out of 5 stars Completely Disappointed   August 30, 2008

This product looks and sounds cool - but the TANK leaks almost everytime - spewing coffee everywhere. Totally unsatisfactory - I'll be returning this item.

I followed the instructions (both written and video) to the letter (completely disassembling the unit after each use). I have used stove top espresso makers for years - so when I saw the Mukka - I was thrilled to have my cappuccino made all at once instead of running the microwave to heat the milk. I've never had my 'regular' espresso makers leak - so it's got to be a weakness with this special design.

Save your money - use a regular espresso unit and micro your milk.

5 out of 5 stars So glad I bought this!!!   August 28, 2008

After reading many many reviews, I purchased this product hoping for the best, but fearing for the worst. I am happy to report, it's exceeded my expectations. I've had no problems at all with this product. I found some tips at various sites on the web that others may find helpful as well: 1) Follow the instructions explicitly 2) Use olive oil on the threads on seal to prevent leakage 3) Add the espresso away from the unit to make spillage less likely and be sure to check for spillage before sealing 4) Keep the heat at medium to medium high. Now onto the good stuff....the cappys this thing makes are delicious. Beautiful froth, fabulous taste(I used Lactaid skim milk and Illy ground espresso in case you were wondering). Having owned (and subsequently sold on Ebay) an expensive Italian espresso machine because it was wasn't worth the hassle, I can honestly say this item is hassle free. What more can you ask for?

5 out of 5 stars Starbucks Coffee   August 22, 2008

I can have my Starbucks coffee every morning in the privacy of my own home. Here are my tips for making the perfect cup without any problems.

- Use Starbucks Expresso Roast (have store grind for expresso machines)
- Fill strainer sparingly when using Starbucks coffee (approx 1 T) - coffee grounds are very oily compared to other brands
- Fill strainer with coffee and then put onto bottom; make sure no coffee grounds on threads
- Always wash and rinse out all parts of coffee maker
- Buy caramel sauce and vanilla syrup from Starbucks to make Caramel Macchiatto at home. YUM

5 out of 5 stars Works very well   August 13, 2008

I'm very pleased with how it works. I did have an overflow incident one time making a latte and it was because the pressure button wouldn't stay in the up position. In other words, I was telling the machine to make a cappuccino (button down) with larger latte (button up) amounts of liquid. I hadn't noticed this until after the overflow mess. I figured out that the pressure valve had to be cleaned. If you let hot water pour onto the valve while holding it (with tongs) upside-down, a stream of water will flow up and out of the needle-size hole and that solved the problem for me! I think an overflow while making a cappuccino isn't going to happen unless you put in too much liquid (water and/or milk) because the valve is supposed to be in the down position. Alas, you have to clean it out after using it and this takes a little time, but you have to clean out a full-size machine also. Make sure you get the bottom part DRY after cleaning, or it will get rusty/corroded. I just put over the flame for 15 seconds after drying. This machine rocks!

5 out of 5 stars Ingenious design   August 8, 2008
Delicious capuccino. I think disappointed users may not have carefully followed instructions. If you do, especially making sure not to leave any grounds on the sealing surface when you screw on the lower half, you'll have good results. If you act fast you can get this at Williams Sonoma, in store only, for $60.
