1 out of 5 stars Smoking Iron   October 31, 2008
I bought the Rowenta Advancer nine months ago. I liked how fast it heated up but it did spit and sputter. I even tried bottled water. Yesterday when I was using it it starting smoking. I unplugged it but it kept smoking until my smoke alarm went off so I had to take it outside to cool off. This is unexceptable for such a expensive iron.

4 out of 5 stars Heavy but really does the job   October 5, 2008
I found it a bit cumbersome trading up from a light weight Black and Decker iron but after I adjusted, I could not be more pleased. I've owned this for several months now and it really does a great job on my frequent ironing jobs. The steam is fantastic and I do not have to refill as much as I did with my old iron. I've not had any leaking which was something the B&D-ers I owned seemed to do a lot of.

2 out of 5 stars Great Iron, POOR workmanship.   October 4, 2008
I got this iron about a year ago, and I have only used it 7-8 times. It is by far the best iron I have ever used to get wrinkles out. The only problem is the quality. On my last use, the plastic heat control knob broke off. You would expect a 100+ dollar iron to have better workmanship, or a better warranty (1 year). Rowenta clearly needs to fix some issues in their factories.

5 out of 5 stars Rowenta Advancer Iron   September 30, 2008
This is my SECOND Rowenta Advancer iron. It is about my 5th Rowenta iron in the past 20 years. There is just no better iron on this planet. I wouldn't have had to buy this new Advancer if I hadn't knocked my other one off of the ironing board and onto my slate (stone) floor, smashing it into a zillion pieces. My fault...completely!! That may cure me from ironing in front of the TV....or maybe NOT! Amazon had the very best price of all of the places I searched on the internet.

1 out of 5 stars WARNING!! Leaks like a Sieve   September 27, 2008
I feel like I have two ears and a tail because despite that my last Rowenta leaked, I was convinced to buy this outrageously expensive product which has quickly become another defective piece of Rowenta-made junk. This is not a matter of using the iron improperly or a problem with the water. I've always used city tap water in it. The water leaks right out of the bottom of the iron! And I'm not talking about a few drops here and there. I'm talking about large amounts of water that leave large water marks. It literally drips/runs out the bottom of the iron (the heel, not the sole plate). No, it's never been dropped or damaged in any way. Of course this happened right after my warranty ran out. This company is now on my no-buy list. I will never, ever again buy another Rowenta anything after having wasted so much money on their irons already.
