Great Hot Pot May 27, 2008

I use this for hot water for making and topping off my tea. It is great and keeps the water hot for hours. This one is a little large though for everyday use. I think I would like the smaller one for everyday, and the larger one for road trips and entertaining. The button sticks sometimes but it still works all the time.

The lid on this model has several places where water or condensation can collect and breed mold or bacteria. It cannot be washed and dried thoroughly due to the poor design. The push button on the lid seems gimmicky and easily breakable. I had to replace my "smooth serve" model with this, and I want the "smooth serve" back again--the lid was much more simply designed and could be easily washed and dried.

Zojirushi Premium Thermal 1-3/4-Liter Carafe, Brushed Stainless Steel

I have been using the Carafe for about a month and have found it to be an excellent product. My wife is happy with her hot coffee, which I brew early in the morning and place it in the carafe for her later morning enjoyment. The carafe keeps the coffee hot for at least 8-10 hours; of course I do preheat it with hot tap water prior to filling it with coffee.

Easy to use - the open & shut valve is in the handle and you can do it one-handed. Haven't had any trouble with it sticking. Keeps coffee warm - even overnight.

I ordered the carafe a few weeks ago. It preforms very well, love the size because it holds 12 cups of coffee. Easy to use, easy to pour. Saw the review for the sticky open/close button but in the product info it said if this part becomes "sticky" soak with soap, my personal method is to soak in hot water with white vingar. I had a previous model and after 15 years of use I broke the release-pour tab. Hopefully I will get as many years of use as my old carafe.
