5 out of 5 stars Tough, durable and life-time warranty   October 6, 2007

Love them. They're expensive, yes, but they're light-weight, tough and don't sweat on my wood furniture. Are they indestructible? No, but the company cheerfully replaces them when something goes wrong. Well worth the price.

4 out of 5 stars Good quality, nice product   July 14, 2007

The Tervis cups are very nice and of great quality. The lifetime guarantee is very reassuring, as well as the fact that this company has been around for so long. I recommend these cups! Beverages stay nice and cold for a lot longer than "regular" cups. I have the travel lids too, and they're great!

4 out of 5 stars The Good and the Bad -- Mostly Good   July 7, 2007

First the good. . . I found these are attractive, they seem durable, and the insulation works well. Condensation on the outside of the glass is greatly reduced, and I doubt whether I would ever need to use a coaster with them. Ice doesn't melt nearly as fast as it did in glass tumblers. They also float, which could make them a good choice around the pool.

The bad. . . Obviously these tumblers are not cheap. The insulation is not perfect, it does not eliminate all condensation. They are somewhat bulky in comparison with regular drinking glasses -- you will notice this when stacking them in the kitchen cabinet or dishwasher. The outside of the tumbler is smooth, with no texture to help you keep a grip on it.

On the balance, I like them a lot. I have replaced most of our old tumblers and iced tea glasses with Tervis.

5 out of 5 stars Excellet All-Purpose Glasses   June 30, 2007

I mulled over this purchase for a very long time, reading and re-reading reviews. I am a cheapskate. My huge set of 24 glasses in tall and short sizes cost me $8.99 at Walmart. They break, I just buy more, no big deal.

That was until I had my hand and sponge inside one of the larger glasses and it shattered, cutting a nice chunk out of my thumb. It bled and bled, then it took almost a month to heal. I have a lovely scar to show for it.

My Mom always had plastic cups because we are a clumsy family (we tease Dad that he needs a tippy cup for his wine), but we also had a swimming pool and lived near the beach, so plastic always made sense. She bought cheap ones that sweat and cracked and looked horrible in a short amount of time.

I didn't think these Tervis cups were very attractive, (I was looking at Bodum originally) and they were more than I wanted to spend on cups, but I feel they're more of an investment. They have an unconditional lifetime warranty, I can always get a brand new glass if something should happen to one. These do keep my drinks perfectly insulated. I never used cups for soda because I drink them slowly and don't like melted ice. With these I don't even need to bother with ice if I don't want to, because the glass keeps the drink cold on its own. They also eliminate the need for coasters. I don't know how many times I have to tell my boyfriend to use a coaster before he does it automatically, so I just eliminated that area of contention. They are also much better looking in real life. I've got the clear ones.

I am slowly phasing out my cheap housewares with better quality items. I've got my Corelle dishes, and when I move into my new home, I will only be taking my 8 Tervis tumblers, I'm chucking all the cheap Walmart glass that breaks so easily.

4 out of 5 stars Small, easy to hold   June 10, 2007

Easier to hold than some other of the insulated glasses out there, however the size is deceptively small. I suppose they are indeed 16 ounces. Just looks like it should hold more.
