New and improved April 12, 2008
I owned a previous version of this product that somehow disappeared. The new version purchased this year "chirps" once the proper vacuum level is achieved. (How do it know?)

Works Great, Without Making Long Bottles Longer February 24, 2008

I realize that a 100% complete vacumn is not achived. However, it does remove excess air (try it on a plastic soda bottle; it sucks the bottle inward). Most importantly for me, my bottles don't have to have the cork pounded in so deep it is very difficult to take them out again. The reusable bottle stopper only adds a few milimeters to the length of the bottle. And, it is SO much easier to open and reclose bottles. Well worth the money!

The tool works as advertised, unfortunately we never leave an open bottle of wine around long enough to tell whether or not the tool actually keeps it fresh.

Save the wine January 15, 2008
I have used this outfit for years and it works wonderfully well. If you buy the big 1.5 liter bottles of wine, you will save money and can keep it fresh with this item. Simple and effective. Takes a little pump, pump, pumping, but you can use the exercise. Hint: if you rub a tiny bit of oil (like canola, or some other light oil) inside the pump on occasion, it will work much smoother.
