5 out of 5 stars Wine winner   August 10, 2005

These are simply beautiful glasses. They are every bit as elegant as Reidel, but cost much less. The glass is thin, the shape is elegant, they hold up well in washing. I recommend them.

5 out of 5 stars The best value in wine glasses today.   June 16, 2005

Riedel is the 'gold standard' of wine glasses but these glasses nearly (no not quite) but nearly measure up to them at a much lower cost. I enjoy this glass because I can use it for both white and red wines. I don't know about others, but my cabinet space is limited, and I cannot have a number of different wine glasses. There just isn't space. I strongly recommend cleaning these is the dishwasher. The only breakage I have had occurred cleaning up after a neighborhood get together and one broke while a friend was hand drying it. To fully appreciate these, remember to fill them only to the 'break', the point where the glass starts to turn back in. If you fill them above this you will not be able to properly swirl the wine or enjoy its nose. Buy these and enjoy both them and your wine!

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful and elegant but handle with care   October 27, 2004

I love these glasses for white wine, and they set off iced tea perfectly. The down side is that you have to hand-wash them, and they are prone to breaking. But this is a terrific price for a beautiful set of wine glasses.

4 out of 5 stars Great glasses, but be careful   July 27, 2004

These glasses look like ones that cost much more. They are thin, crystal-clear glass. Realizing that, I thought they should be hand washed. But I broke one of them while drying it--the side of the glass simply popped out while I was running a towel inside it. Then I turned to using the dishwasher--and I broke another, which I had put in the top rack (I think it was too close to other glasses). Now I wash them in the bottom rack of the dishwasher, away from all other items, which has worked fine so far.

4 out of 5 stars Nice but very fragile   May 6, 2004

I got mine with the 2 for one deal, so of the 12 glasses, one arrived broken. I asked for cash back and got almost no value (I think the refund mechanism for that deal is broken). So if you get a broken one, ask for a replacement. BTW You don't have to send the non broken ones back.

I like them so far, they are way better than those Anchor Hocking versions that I had. But in the hand they feel like they would break with any misuse. So while the carton says "dishwasher possible" mine are not going near it.

Again Amazon didn't pack one of the two boxes well and that was the box with the busted glass.

BTW if you home, and the UPS delivery guy hands you a box and you give it a shake and it "tinkles", hand it right back to him and ask to fill out a broken as recieved form. Don't even bother to open it up.

On the otherside, everyone seems to rave about how much better their wine tastes in better glasses. For me that's overrated. Maybe my pallett isn't all that refined but good wine still tastes better than bad or really cheap stuff, but neither seems to improve in the glass.
