1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time or money   December 25, 2007

I received this as a Christmas gift 2007. We used this tonight and what a terrible waste of time. We took 2 bottles of white chardonnay out of the pantry, put one in the refridgerator and the other in the chiller. When I added the bottle to the chiller, it took several minutes (about 10) before it could even tell me what the current temperature was (69 degress). The book says it would take approximately 53 minutes to chill to the serving temperature of 48 degrees. Over 2 hours...yes I said 2 hours later it finally displayed CHEERS! I agree with a previouse review in that I believe the bottom of the bottle was colder then the top or internal wine temperature. Don't waste your time on this product. By the way, the one we put in the refrigerator was ready in 30min.

This product isn't even close to delivering what it has promised.

3 out of 5 stars Somewhat Handy for Red Wines   November 24, 2007

I wish I had read everyone's reviews here before impulsively buying this gadget from another merchant! To augment the excellent review of Laura Davis who put the Waring PC100 to a scientific temperature test, I chilled a bottle of chardonnay (which didn't take too long in my cold environment as it's 29F outside and I never raise my thermostat above 62F). Nevertheless, after the device indicated my bottle had reached the ideal 48F according to the wine library, an immediate temperature probe in the first poured glass registered 52F.

Not only does it fall short of properly chilling a white wine, it doesn't handle all sizes of 750 ml champagne bottles, although it has a champagne setting (and forget about using it to chill a dry Franconian white wine in a Mateus-shaped "Bocksbeutel"!). Moreover, its loud, whooshing fan distracts while entertaining. I'll make sure to keep it in a distant room away from guests.

I will not return this device, but use it mostly for bringing red wines to a more or less drinkable temperature until I upgrade to a wine refrigerator. I really like what the Waring PC100 does with a Pinot noir!

1 out of 5 stars would rate it lower however there are no negatives stars   November 16, 2007

I received this as a gift and agree w/ the other reviewers in this is junk. I tried to chill a bottle of sparkling wine w/ a starting temp of 70 degrees. It took 1 1/2 hours to chill to 44 degrees and when I poured the first glass it was at room temperature. The bottom of the bottle was cold. Also this unit is very loud and the fan never seems to turn off.

1 out of 5 stars Noisy   November 4, 2007

Cooling fan extremly noisy to the point of being distractive . Product returned to manufacturer for this reason.

5 out of 5 stars Liked It! Sent one to my brother!   September 28, 2007

I received the Waring Pro PC100 Wine Chiller for a wedding present. I am a white wine lover and was thrilled with the idea of having a high tech device to chill my wine.... if perchance I forgot to think ahead. It worked great! You can set the device to chill whatever wine you have... at the correct temp. red, white, or (choke) rose. We were in Kansas celebrating my brother's special birthday. We looked for a similar wine chiller and ended up buying one at Wallmart. It was the only one in town. Unfortunately he wanted to try it out that night. We waited 5 hours, and the wine was still room temp. We took it back to Wallmart. I went home and ordered the Waring Pro for him. He loved it! It worked perfectly! I also want to mention the lovely design. Perfect for any kitchen. It's the best wine cooler I've seen so far. (I've looked at all of them!) Don't buy the Emerson brand. It did not work!!!!
