awsome product, a little bit pricey but it works well. you don't have to go out and check the temp every 15 min.

I've had this remote for almost 2 years and it's been a mixed bag. I'm a frequent smoker with a traditional off-set firebox smoker. The dual probes are great for ensureing even temps across the smoker surface (I rarely use the meat probe for measuring doneness till the last hour or so of smoking).
The good: -No other remote thermometer has dual probes and wireless transmisson.
-Pretty good transmission range. Solid connection out to 20 feet, sporadic but reasonable connection to 50 ft.
-no problems with battery life in my experience.
-probes are easy to clean, I've even put them in the dishwasher.

The bad: (many already noted by others)
-transmitter on/off swith behind the screw-lock door is plain stupid. Extremely inconvenient.
-Receiver on/off swith is weak and easily broken. Snapped mine off after 2 months. Ever since have to take a battery out to turn it off. Poor design.
-Yes, setting alarm temps is annoyingly slow. Better design could simplify it immensely.
-After 2 years, receiver no longer recieving signal. Lucking probes still work fine, but no longer transmitting to receiver, so now it's just a regular temp monitor.

Overall, I wish someone would design a better product with the same features. It's not really that complex of a piece of equipment, but I guess there's not enough demand for more selection. I'm looking to replace it and would prefer a better made product, but don't see any other possibilities, so I'll probably get another one.

this 2 probe system works as advertised. the alarm works on the way up and on the way down. a great cooking / smokeing tool.

I love this product and would recommend it highly. The RediChek Remote Wireless Smoker Thermometer is a must for smoke houses. The RediChek worked exactly as described except for only one feature, the distance. I tried may different locations in my home and could not get the advertised 100 feet. Also, It had to be in direct line of sight or no signal would be picked up by the receiver. I was forced to put it in a window about 40 feet from my smoke house in order to get consistant signals.

Aside from the distance issue, it works perfectly. I was pleased with the accuracy as I checked it against hand held digital pocket thermometer and a manual dial thermometer, and it was right on.

I would have rated this a 5, if the advertised distance and signal strength would have been as advertised.

Just smoked some salmon and baked potatoes. I watched the cooking surface temperature and the internal potato temp to see how it would do. The receiver was over 75' away and it was no problem. It works great!
