5 out of 5 stars It just keeps getting better   February 26, 2008

I have had this book for a number of years and have never had a recipe disapoint me. The double smoked pulled pork is a neighborhood hit. We have get togethers throughout the year and it is always requested. I have five books related to smoking meats and this is the book I keep going back too. I have had some questions with a couple of recipes and I have e-mailed the author and he is always there to help me. Think of doing that with some authors and you get nothing. WOW!!

5 out of 5 stars Good book for starters!   February 8, 2008

Found this to be a very good book for anyone that is new to smoking. Gives you all the information you need with some good receipts too.

5 out of 5 stars Very informative   January 9, 2008

If you are looking for a book for the most thorough information, this is it. In spite of not having passed the desk of an editor, the vast amount of information presented makes it easy to overlook the typos. In particular he does not tell the reader he/she should use one particular type or brand of smoker, but instead leaves it to the reader's personal choice. He does not look down his nose as his uninformed readers, but writes very much as one would speak, giving the impression he is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his subject. His recipes have been excellent. I have been very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to one who is interested in learning about food smoking.

3 out of 5 stars Great Book for Reference but the typos/errors are INFURIATING!   January 3, 2008

My mother bought my husband & I a smoker for Christmas so as an added gift, she purchased a couple of books on smoking. This book has some really great information that the other book didn't even compare too. However, some of the recipes seemed incomplete, there were recommended ingredients that weren't referenced in the book & google couldn't even find like "Pick a Pepper" Sauce?? There was a recipe for Dr Pepper Sauce, is that the same thing.

I consider myself to be a pretty good cook & have improvised with success on many occasions. But, having to run to the internet to look stuff up to complete the recipe gets frustrating after a few times. If it didn't have such good info in it, I would be tempted to mark all the errors & mail the book back to the author!

3 out of 5 stars informative, but not great   December 7, 2007

This is a decent book for beginners in smoking. There's some good information. I was a little disappointed in the amount of information for the price though. I'd rather have more information on smoking techniques than recipes. I would probably buy it again. (Lots of misspellings.)
