Great alternative to stand mixer! January 3, 2008
Because of an upcoming move with weight limits, I couldn't justify purchasing my long-dreamed of stand mixer, so the KitchenAid hand-held seemed an excellent compromise.

It's very lightweight, very powerful (almost lost control of it when using it for the first time). I did not find any difficulty in using it for long beating. It is a bit difficult to control the beater and scrape the side of the bowl with a spatula at the same time because of its power, but I'm sure such control will come with time and familiarity with the beater.

I highly recommend this mixer to anyone looking for a good handmixer from a quality company.

My wife has purchased at least a dozen hand mixers of various (less expensive) types over the last 2 years, and has been unhappy with all of them. The problem is usually too fast of low speed or too quick of startup, causing certain things to froth or splatter. This is the only hand mixer she's ever had that she's been completely happy with.

The Amazon purchase was relatively painless. The price was competitive. The order was completed online from the dining room while she was complaining in the kitchen about yet another brand-new 5-speed one she didn't like, and the shipment arrived in 4 days, with a weekend included.

It's fun to make her happy, but usually requires a lot more effort than this.

Absolutely amazing - best hand mixer ever! December 26, 2007
The Kitchenaid 9-speed hand mixer is excellent - I'm extremely happy with mine. I can definitely see a difference in the quality of my baked goods since I tossed my old discount brand mixer and started using the Kitchenaid - plus, mixing is just so much easier with the Kitchenaid. And cleaning the beaters is a breeze since there is no center post - nothing much sticks to them.

Excellent Hand Mixer December 15, 2007
This mixer is the best. I burned up the Hamilton Beach that I had before this machine. The mixer is so quiet, even on the highest speeds. I love that it has a really slow speed, great for getting flour mixed in a bit before cranking it up to high! It has performed well on everything I have made thus far - even some really solid cookie dough (my other machine would have quit moving).
