5 out of 5 stars this machine is the greatest   March 27, 2008
I use this back to basics smoothie Maker every day and it is great. It never jams, it works so well on frozen fruit. Its quick and very easy to clean. I recommend it to all who love smoothies.

1 out of 5 stars Do NOT Buy   March 20, 2008
Okay so this thing seems great at first, the reveiws are so so and it seems like it has power. EXCEPT it cannot be run for long periods of time, so if you are making a full belnder of say a frozen fruit smoothie it will not blend all the fruit therefore leaving you with chunks. If you do run it for too long it starts to stink becuase the motor is burning.
Also, it is very very hard to obtain parts, the spout broke just from normal use, which I find now, is common, and I searched online then finally found a phone number to order, the people are rude, the parts are Way too expensive (the spout was $15 plus shipping) and the shipping was terribly slow.
I don't know what this would be good for, as evn if you are not blending frozen things, the motor still can't run for longer than a couple of minutes.
Save your money, and buy a Hamilton Beach single serve blender, this little guy rocks! It comes with a travel lid and will fit in your car cup holder.

3 out of 5 stars Works well enough   February 3, 2008
I have had this product for some time now. It is still in good condition, though I don't use it every week. My only complaint is that it's very loud, even for a blender. Otherwise, its well made. The lid locks on and is easy to get on and off. It looks nice enough.

4 out of 5 stars Wish it didn't leak but best I've found   November 16, 2007

My first version of this product, from Sam's Club, lasted a few years and then it gave up the ghost. The original model is no longer produced and so this was the closest thing. It took a replacement to the one I first got from Amazon which was defective. The replacement works pretty well - I love the stir stick and the dispenser that allows me to fill a "bullet" style container by hanging over the edge of the counter. No other smoothie maker I've seen has this feature! Also, the consistency I get is unrivaled - it gets it nice and thick with plenty of ice.

My main complaint is that even immediately after assembling it post-dishwasher and hand washing (for the delicate parts which are not dishwasher safe), it still leaks something awful. I have to put in the ingredients over the sink every time I use it.

Overall, though, best of all the options, and believe me I've tried quite a few.

5 out of 5 stars Higher Power makes great smoothies   August 31, 2007

We wore out a basic Back to Basics smoothie maker after two years of making smoothies once or twice a week. We were happy to find another Back to Basics at a reasonable price and higher power and larger container. This one is easier to clean with the parts coming apart better. We are very happy with our purchase.
