1 out of 5 stars problematic device   February 22, 2006

This thing worked great, exactly as advertised. But it only did it twice. Then the non-stick coating on the egg-poaching cup started to peel off. "Oh, that's not a big deal," you say. Well, it's actually a rather big deal indeed. The teflon stuff doesn't just peel off all at once, and you can't just scrape off the "iffy" part and then be done with it. No, every time you make eggs, from now until eternity, little chunks of teflon will come off and attach themselves to your otherwise-perfect egg.

This is a very serious design flaw. I tried a workaround (putting in a piece of foil in the cup) but it doesn't work (the eggs don't cook through, if you're wondering, and there's no way to adjust for it).

I'm going to call the company and see if they have functional replacements. I note that a number of other reviews have complained about this problem -- perhaps they've taken notice. If so, I'll gladly come back and give this thing the rating it would otherwise deserve.

5 out of 5 stars Great for the lazy! (or those with no time)   February 21, 2006

I got this thing a month ago...it is by far the best appliance I have ever puchased. I am a 21 year old male. I don't have a lot of dishes, mainly because I don't own any. I'm a gamer and I work full time and go to school full time. I'd rather eat fast food than make a sandwich kind of guy. But this thing is awesome! I like eggs and it cooks them however I want them and does so very well. So if you ask me, I highly recommend!

5 out of 5 stars egg and muffin toaster   February 20, 2006

This is an excellent product. It works well as a stand-alone toaster, but is great for making breakfast muffins. I have tried it with a fresh egg and with eggbeater. I have used both Canadian bacon and ham in the steamer. I have also boiled up to two fresh eggs in it. All work as advertised. The toaster is programmed to have muffin and egg/meat come out together. It works equally well with bread. The egg/meat assembly is easy to clean. Overall, this is an outstanding product that does exactly what it advertises and is a real breakfast making convenience.

4 out of 5 stars Almost a perfect appliciance   February 19, 2006
I bought one for $59.99 (Amazon was out of them) and absolutely loved it at first. The English muffin doesn't quite get dark enough so I have to go through 2 cycles, which is a slight pain.

I use Egg Beaters and they come out fine.

My only issue is that the non-stick surface is already peeling away after a month of use. There was a sticky brown residue in the heating tray, mostly likely from the slice of ham I heated up, and it cooked right into the surface. Using a plain sponge to clean it almost worked but now the finish is coming off.

I'm asking the company to replace it because I don't think I could be without it!

5 out of 5 stars This really is great!   February 18, 2006

I can't believe how great this toaster/egg maker really is. The egg sandwiches are so easy to make. Everything is ready at the same time and there is little clean up. You always wonder about "gadgets" but this one is a gem. Highly recommended!
