3 out of 5 stars Needs help   February 18, 2008
I prefer heaters with a fan. It will heat the area described but doesn't move air.

1 out of 5 stars Smells on "High" setting   February 5, 2008

This heater works as advertised...except it emits a strong smell when set to high (1500 watt) mode. The other modes (700 + 1000 watts) do not emit a smell, but I bought it specifically to heat a large room and I need to run it on high to adequately heat the room. Thus, it is worthless to me.

1 out of 5 stars Worked well, couldn't get past the smell   February 3, 2008
After I purchased the heater, I ran it according to the directions, on the highest setting for two hours in a ventilated area. There was a odor when I first ran it. I thought it would go away, but unfortunately it never did. I would run it for varying periods of time, but the smell just never dissapated. I can't be sure what the smell was, but I wondered if perhaps the manufacturer didn't use a high heat paint. With all of the media coverage of items made in China with substandard or toxic materials, I wondered if this was the case! I did exchange it for another, and sadly the second heater smelled as well. The heater itself was a great size and worked well, but I just could not get past the awful smell.

If you can get past the smell, I would recommend the heater, but if the odor is a point of concern, then you may want to bypass it.

2 out of 5 stars De Longhi Radiator   January 29, 2008

First product seemed to leak, and soon stopped working.

Replacement (thank you) seems ok, but (plastic) cover
[ends] seems not to fit well.

General comment: heat - ok, cosmetics - less than expected.

5 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC!!   January 25, 2008
My daughter and I sleep in the basement (a living room, bedroom, bathroom setup) of my mother's house while I go to school. In the winter we freeze down there - and with the cost of electricity my mother is just not willing to turn up the thermostat. We were looking for an affordable alternative that wouldn't cost her loads on her electric bill. Enter the DeLonghi heater. This thing has been FABULOUS. If you want to get almost uncomfortably warm - close the door... you'll roast. With the door cracked and this puppy on high - we are very toasty in our chilly basement. Sometimes I move it out to the living room during the day. Since that room is open to the stairs it doesn't do as well there - but it definitely warms the room. I have had NO smells or problems or yellowing. I bought a refurbished unit that had a quarter sized paint chip - but who cares! This winter is the second winter in a row that we've had it. No problems!
