5 out of 5 stars Works like magic   April 28, 2008
This butter bell is so great, I had to buy 3 of them to send to my European friends. My butter stays fresh at room temperature for weeks!Just remember to change the water every couple of days. It's amazing.

5 out of 5 stars Funny, odd, simple gadget that works!   April 26, 2008
I have had it for a few weeks now. I refill the water (an inch or two in the bottom of the receptacle part of the keeper) virtually every time I use the butter. Why not? It's easy and it keeps it more sanitary and fresh. It takes a second and I think it may keep the butter cooler and less likely to develop mold or allow it to get "contaminated" by little pieces of bread from moving a knife back and forth from the bread to the container. So, quite simply, it works! I couldn't even get it to drop in the container (as described by one reviewer), if you put room temperature butter in the smaller top part of the container, it's going to stick if it's dry when you put it in. It's one of those silly things that works. The butter continues to taste fresh. At this rate I think I will go thru it in about 2 weeks. Change the water regularly, keep it away from direct sunlight or heat and I think it will work like a charm for you.

I get a kick out of it, it's a fun gift as well. I highly recommend it.

4 out of 5 stars It really works! It's worth a little extra trouble...   April 21, 2008

Our family loves this thing. Dealing with the small amount of water needed to provide the air-tight seal isn't a big deal for us, but it would be if my kids were small. The bell can get slippery, what with the butter and the water. It's fun knowing that we're using an old-fashioned idea in our modern kitchen.

This product is very nice for the money and just as pictured. My butter falls out into the water every few days but that is probably because I am in very warm Florida.

5 out of 5 stars Works well for me   March 23, 2008
I was worried that I would have issue getting the butter to stay in the bell. However, I am happy to report that I haven't yet encountered any such problem (of course it has been winter since I got this, so we'll see what happens in the summer when my house is around 75-80, instead of 65-70).

Also, I rarely use a lot of butter, so I was concerned that the butter would go rancid quickly. Since this container wasn't opened often, I added water about once a week (not every few days as recommended), and I have kept the butter for well over a month, and no mold, funny smells or tastes. It works great! I'm really pleased.
