Overblown and Overrated, Save Your Money. July 28, 2007

The folks at Bed Bath and Beyond sold us on this flagship set from Calphalon, essentially telling us that these were the best and only set of pots and pans that we'd ever need. Like fools, we bought their line and the set. Here's the bottom line: We used them according to the manufacturer's instructions and 14 months later, they are falling apart. The Anodized Non-stick surface is flaking off and food sticks to what's left almost every time. You might be thinking that we probably used a brillo pad on them, let them soak overnight or put them in the dishwasher (all of these are no-nos), but we didn't. And honestly, the non-stick surface was a mediocre performer from day one. And who wants a set that you can't load up in the dishwasher anyway? And no soaking? Are you serious? Afraid so. We should have read all the fine print first (as usual).
Essentially you have to clean them as soon as you use them and when the no-stick surface turns out not to be, you have to use a dish cloth to "scrub" them out. Good luck with that. This is NOT a lifetime set. Maybe, MAYBE, it would be worth the price tag if it lasted 10 years, but it won't. The regular ol' teflon stuff is just as durable as the Calphalon Anodized One set, does better in the no-stick category, is workable in the dishwasher and oh yeah, it isn't $500+. If you are determined to go with Calphalon, I would get the regular steel/ chrome set. This less expensive set is far more durable, less finicky, less annoying and a better value all the way around. If you get these as a wedding gift, then be glad and take 'em back for the cash.

My husband and I were talked into the Adonized 10 piece set at William Sonoma and I wish, I wish we hadn't. The set lacks the ease of use and cleaning of the nonstick. If you're on the fence, buy NONSTICK!!

I recieved these pots and pans for Christmas. My Husband made a very good choice; being that they are very easy to cook with. Nothing sticks to them whatsoever. The cookware is heavy duty, and very nice quality.They cook evenly.Cleaning is a breeze, They wash very easily. These pots and pans are well worth the money.They are most certainly my most appreciated gift.

This is the most beautiful cookware I've ever seen, and what a joy to use! For the serious chef, or just the average cook looking for inspiration to get back into the kitchen and love every minute of it. I now look forward to entertaining, as food comes out perfect every time. The best part is...I got the kitchen set and griddle as a free bonus with purchase. Unbelievable value...thanks Amazon!!!

Fair, but there are better choices August 14, 2006

I made the mistake of investing in a set of Calphalon about 4 years ago. Almost immediately, the pans began getting ugly scratches on the outside. It seems to happen no matter how careful you are. On the plus side, the non-stick coating is durable, and the cookware is quite heavy and made well. But for this kind of money, you should get a set of cookware that (A: You can toss in the dishwasher, and (B: Has a more durable exterior finish.

Note: To answer another person's comment, this is basically the same set I purchased some years ago at Dillard's department store. The handles have changed slightly, and Calphalon has added a polymer to help the exterior resist stains, but this set uses the same materials and finish as the one I had. And notice Calphalon still recommends hand washing??? You have to 'baby' the exterior finish....using a Scotch-brite pad to get out scratches and scuffs.
