These really come in handy. I would consider a set of Pyrex mixing bowls a kitchen basic that all households should have. They are durable. Just because they are glass, does not mean that they break easily. We have dropped these on occasion and they never broke, cracked, or chipped. They can take a lot of abuse and still hold up well.

I wouldn't think of mixing and storing food in any material other than glass. I have these bowls and they are wonderful. I use them every single day, from everything to making biscuits and pie dough to mixing a quick salad. They clean up so nicely--never stain or hold odors from other foods. I feel that since plastic and other synthetic materials are made from petroleum, they can't be safe. Another safety factor is that plastic/synthetic bowls scratch and therefore bacteria and such can penetrate them. You won't go wrong with these bowls and they are an excellent value to boot.

These are very good quality bowls. I have had them for 2 weeks now and have used them almost every single day since. I feel like a chef off Food Network with these beautiful babies.

I can't believe I found these bowls for such a great price - and free shipping. I grew up with these bowls, my mother still has hers, and although they're scratched, they do the job fine.
