This item works great but it does not come with a knife. I had a long bread knive that fits across it perfectly.

Slicer works ok, however the wood base cheesy and won't hold up if the knife cuts into it.

I was anticipating a great solution to cutting uniform slices and catching crumbs, but was very disappointed. It was clumsy to use, the knife saws into the wood and you can not get a clean cut at the bottom because there is no solid surface. The only good thing about this transaction was being able to return the product!
