2 out of 5 stars It's not the Cuisinart you used to know!   October 12, 2004

Times have changed and so has the parent company that sells and services your food processor. The quality of materials and workmanship have gone downhill too!

My experience with the corporate machine was horrible. Days of long waits to talk to a customer service rep...never paid off. Each time I called I was eventually forwarded to a recorded message that explained that they were too busy and that I needed to leave my name and phone number. I never did get a call-back. Finally, after several attempts, I was able to get past the initial phone queue and actually talked to a live person who took the information about the condition of all the clear plastic parts on the processor. They were all severely cracked and were not far from flying apart. It seems they knew of the problem and offered to replace the parts on warranty. All I had to do was give them a credit card number to charge the shipping to. AND, nothing would happen UNTIL I sent the old pieces back...again at MY expense.

I sent the parts back promptly, but they didn't ship for another two weeks. And, here is the highlight of the episode... The lid they sent was the wrong one. Another round of phone calls yielded a person that said that Cuisinart had not processed the replacement yet...a full two weeks after they were notified. I still have not received the lid and the processor is useless without it.

BEWARE! This company tries to sell their products in the top-end of the price range, but their corporate customer service system is as bad as it gets...at any price. You can do yourself a favor and shop for another brand. I'm looking at KitchenAid. Shucks, it can't be any worse...and MAY be a much better experience over the long run.

5 out of 5 stars Can't Believe I Waited So Long to Get One!   October 10, 2004

Just bought this processor last week and I'm already in love with it. Since I've never owned a processor before, I really didn't understand the impact it would have on our lives. There are so many foods that we love, but didn't have often because of the time and work they required. That's changing already. This machine is SIMPLE to use, even for a processor novice. It's EASY to clean and doesn't require a great deal of counter space. Absolutely the best gift I've ever purchased for myself.

5 out of 5 stars Super multitasker   April 19, 2004

I got this on my birthday from my bf, and it's such a great and useful gift! With this beautiful brushed chrome, and easy to clean up (toss parts in dishwasher)I have made so far:
Artisan bread, and i will never buy bread form a plastic bag again, pizza sauces, pizza dough( i dont think i ever want to order another pizza again, this one was that good) shredded veggires cheeses, meats, bread crumbs, salsas, and guacamole. I even make cake batter in it that is smooth and silky.

This is an amazing product. It saves money and a lot of time. No need to chop or buy prepared foods again.

5 out of 5 stars #1 Gift of The Season!!   December 15, 2003

If you're looking for that perfect gift for someone special - LOOK NO FURTHER - you have found it! I have been using this Cuisinart model for nearly a year now almost daily. It has saved me both time and money. I no longer buy the more expensive ready prep items at the grocery store like shredded cheese or ready cut veggies. I can do the same thing in mere seconds at a fraction of the cost. I have even sliced tomatoes in this unit. For those like me who are short on storage space, this is great - all accessories fit within the unit. And yes, it makes food prep more enjoyable - if you have to do the job you may as well have fun with it! Oh, did I mention its dishwasher safe?

4 out of 5 stars Great machine, but poor safety mechanism   October 7, 2003

I must confess that the machine works well, and as advertised. It handles dough really well, but we have only used the recipies from the Cuisinart book.

The only problem I had was with the "unbreakable" Lexan bowl - it cracked!! The crack occured right at the seat of the safety mechanism. While the function of the safety mechanism was still intact, I did worry that the crack would spread, and then render the whole machine unusable.

Fortunately, the store from which I bought it (The Bay, Canada), gave me a full, no-hassle refund. This was a full 7 months after I bought it. I will get another one, and watch very carefully for a repeat ot the cracking.
